      Strange and frightening/upsetting dream

This will sound quite funny at first, but at the time and upon awakening I was extremely frightened and upset. It involved my mum, who I haven't told about the dream yet, and I don't think I will.

I can't remember how it started, but basically I had somehow become very very small (and think I was nude also) and found myself swimming in a yogurt pot. I looked up to see my mum grinning down at me as I struggled to stay afloat. She dipped a small spoon in and scooped me up then just looked me still grinning, then said "Naughty boy I'm going to swallow you whole," before bringing me up to her mouth. It kind of faded there.

A couple of days ago I had an arguement with my mum which I feel really guilty about as she cried, - but I've said sorry several times since. She used to joke about gobbling me up when I was younger, but that was ten years ago. I'm 16 and wouldn't consider myself a mummy's boy but I think I have a good close relationship with her.
I just found this so terrifying and equally upsetting as your mum is supposed to be your protector and care for you.

Any help in finding out what the dream means would be very much appreciated.

      Thanks,

      Tom.

I'd wager your own guesses were pretty spot on. You'd know better than anyone else.

Since you have a good relationship with your mom, maybe you still feel bad about the argument. Or maybe you wanted to be punished for making your mother sad. You were vulnerable in the dream--naked and unable to easily move--and your mother essentially punished you. Or perhaps instead of wanting punishment, you fear it? Do you feel like your mother will retaliate in some way?

Sorry I can't be of more help. Good luck figuring it out.

Thank you so much for your insight. I never thought of fearing that she might retaliate. After we argued she was silent for a few hours and just seemed to keep to herself. Thinking back on it though, it could be due to the guilt and feeling like I should be punished for upsetting her. I was, and still sort of am, - quite shaken up by it as I've never had a dream like that before. I'm interested to know why the dream was the way it was, - like instead of getting just kicked out the house or something.
      Thanks again
