You need to be able to develop a process of recalling your dreams. The important thing about this process is that you have to commence it even before you head to bed. Perhaps you'd like this process to include some meditational time. And just think of dreams and even sleep as not being like a light switch, something you can turn on and off, but rather think of dreams as an immersion of your daily path.
Besides the obvious: keeping a dream journal, speaking with others about your dreams, writing them down as soon you awaken - one important key element that I have seen help a lot of people is this:
As you are going to sleep, ask yourself this question: "What 3 things do I want to dream about tonight?"
It can be about whatever you wish, work, relationships, lifestyle, goals, etc. In the morning as soon as you awaken, if you don't recall your dreams, then you can move to ask yourself in fact dreamt about those 3 things that you gave thoughtful energy towards.
Best of luck.
