Waking up in the middle of the night without an alarm clock?

Hey, im going to attempt FILD to night, and i know you should wake up without an alarm clock. I never wake up in the middle of the night, i just black out and wake up. (Or if i do i dont remember or dont realise) Got any tips to help me to wake up for FILD?
EDIT: Does FILD include sleep paralysis in it? If yes, would it be the same to wild's sleep paralysis with all the scary things?

FILDs can be preformed with an alarm clock. In fact, it's most commonly done so (waking up naturally is best suited for DEILDs). It's most like a WILD in that it's often paired with a WBTB. My suggestion is to set an alarm clock for 4-6 hours after you fall asleep and then wake up for a few minutes; use the bathroom, write down any dreams, etc. Then head back to bed and preform your FILD.

FILD doesn't have to include sleep paralysis but yes, there is a high chance that it will. FILD is the same as a WILD only you're using your finger to help you maintain a balance of consciousness.

You wake up for a few seconds at the end of every REM cycle (I'm pretty sure, I do not know 100% though) you normally just go right back to sleep and forget it, unless you have to pee or some other bodily function. If you tell yourself to get up at the end of your REM cycle you should wake up a little more after REM. might take a little practice.

Well, I have been using binaural beats lately so that I can wake up after each REM cycle to work on DEILDS. I have to say, when I get the proper amount of sleep, not a night goes by I can't recall waking up at least once or twice and recording it. Jut last night I was easily able to recal waking up twice from the beats and the night before I was able to have a lucid from it.
I have written an entire guide on binaural beats if you are interested.

Hope this helps and good luck.
