Does music hold any significance in dreams?

I had a dream a few nights ago in which I couldn't see, taste, feel, or smell. Instead of any of that, I remember only Marche Slave in B-flat minor, Op. 31 composed by Tchaikovsky. I listen to classical music a lot, but I've only heard this piece maybe 3 times in my life. Has this happened to anyone else?

Music holds a great deal of importance within my dreams. Usually I try to meditate to music before going to sleep, and when I mean meditate I don't mean your traditional meditation style but rather just think about my dreams, dream I had, and ones I'd like to have. Just letting my mind wonder to the rhythm of music.

Music within dreams for me I view it as inspiring because usually when I dream of music and I'm able to remember the tune when I awaken I'm usually filled with such great positive energy - and it all comes from that tune. Usually I try to remember and play that tune out through out the day and just fill a great sense of energy. There is nothing like music in a dream and bringing that into your day and allowing it to energize you, it's such an ethereal and captivating feeling. It makes me feel like I'm living out my dream through out that day.

Music holds tremendous significance in my dreams, pretty much every night music figures in my dreams in some way. What greatly matters to you in your waking life manifests in your dreams.

If you like classical, then classical. If you like rock then rock. Your dreams are influenced by day residue, if you spend a lot of your time listening to the music then it will be reflected in your unconscious contents.

My unconscious seems to be preoccupied with composing imaginary Radiohead songs.

wow thats awesome i absolutely love radiohead! have you ever heard of "mozart effect"? there was a study in 1993 claiming that listening to mozart temporarily improves your spatial thinking, by 8 or 9 IQ points. radiohead makes art that i believe can be compared to mozart's works....who knows maybe there's more signifigance than we think...

Listening to Radiohead temporarily improves my ability to tap along to unusual time signatures

      Morning Bell (in 10/8!), anyone?

I think their music has had a massive influence on my imagination through my life. I would have been 3 when I first hear Paranoid Android and I was obsessed with OK Computer through my childhood, I'd never heard music that seemed so scary, they seemed to make nightmare music to my child mind. Then of course there were the music videos, the boney king of nowhere was sublimely beautiful/creepy in a brothers Grimm sort of way.

I'm glad it's not just me Anyways I listen to all kinds of music but I'm a little obsessed with piano and violin music at the moment so maybe that's why they are frequently in my dreams.

I hear music pretty often in dreams, because I listen to a lot of music, but I wouldn't as it's "significant." Mostly a passive thing, never really at the forefront of a dream.

I'm a musician, so music is in my dreams a lot. I'm often playing or singing. That's why the task of the month didn't present much of a challenge.

Funny that you mention Marche Slave. I have a pretty good recording of that. I just listened to it a couple days ago.
