      Silence and darkness causing nightmares.

Hey guys, this has occurred maybe three times over the past 2 years on separate occasions. Any insight would be much appreciated.

The problem I'm having is the combination of silence (my PC being off) and darkness leads to nightmares. Usually extreme tiredness is factored in too. I lay down, too tired to do otherwise or even think before going to sleep. I experience things similar to WILDs where I'm too tired to move and the process begins, and by the second time I realised I should shake out of it because it lead to nightmares, which were usually dark in nature. I think I just need to work on my dream control as I could become lucid but I don't completely understand the lack of my PC's idle noise could lead to this.

I usually have my PC on to stop this. I brought it up because recently I lost my computer and it almost happened again. The two nights it was in the shop I slept on the couch with the TV on.

If you feeling uneasy about dark, than you being in dark can cause bad dreams. And your PC served as white noise. Without it, you can hear every time your furniture creaks and every little noise.

Have you tried a night light? And maybe a small desk fan?

An air filter works nicely too. As a bonus you get to breathe cleaner air. I have not tracked darkness as a factor for nightmares... The light at least eases your mind when you wake up from one.

Oh yea my imagination just goes nuts when it's too quiet and dark in my room. lol I will have weird dreams...not good weird either! I think it's what gab suggested above though; the dark makes me anxious and then I have scary dreams as a result. Fan? Nightlight? You're never too old for a nightlight...
