      Dream relatives and such.

I've always dreamed that I have a sister, only I don't actually have a sister. Interestingly she is actually a more commonly reoccurring dream character than my brother is. When I was younger, I just called her the mystery girl, because I never had any idea who she was, but in the dream world I never questioned her existence at all, and it always just felt like I knew her. One night in a dream while talking to her, I just simply called her sister, and after I woke up, it made sense, in the dream world, she did feel like a sister. Also interestingly she and my grandpa have always seemed to be the most common dream characters to appear in my dream, both before and after my grandpa died. Still, it doesn't seem that strange that I can still dream about my grandpa frequently, I mean I do have a lot of memories of the man, but my sister, I've never even seen her, so how can that happen? Has anyone ever heard of this before?

Also, interestingly, in most dreams she appears in, she is helping me to figure out something, or to solve some problem. She has even sacrificed herself for me on a few of occasions, and I have done the same for her, but not as often. And by sacrifice, I don't mean death either, mostly its just getting trapped in some unfortunate circumstance that seems inescapable, although she always shows up again down the road. These dreams also tend to be the ones that stick out more to me, and are usually more vibrant than others. She appears in a few of my more dull dreams as well, but usually if she shows up in a dream, it ends up being a doozy.

That is cool. I have some common dream friends and I hope to talk to them lucidly soon. I think it is strange how the mind works. I don't know anything about interpretation. I had one girl keep showing up I'm my dreams, and in the dream I would always fall head over heels for her and I would think of her next to whatever girl I liked or was going out with and she seemed to be WAY better. I can't remember her face, but she was a little younger than me, brown hair, brown eyes, and short. When I met my wife I was amazed that I didn't have a dream about the girl, and couldn't think of her face to see if it matched. It is kind of crazy, but before that I had thought of the dream girl as the same way you do this one. Just a random thing that pops up in dreams and makes me think strange things. I had a friend that I wake up and cry every time I see her because she is not real. She is by best childhood friend.

Dreams have always been so significant to me. They make me think so much about my life. Haha.

I've never had any romantic interest in this girl, I've had plenty of dream girlfriends before, heck she has even been in some of the dreams that I have had dream girlfriends, I've just never seen her in that sort of way. Asking her who she really is is probably my number 1 LD goal to be honest, I even tried it once, but it didn't work out. I realized I was dreaming, I summoned her to where I was but I guess the only way my subconscious could figure out to pull off something like that was to create a giant circle on the ground with all kinds of runes and symbols all over it with a large green sphere in the center. While it did work to summon her the circle itself distracted me and killed my awareness on the spot, so I don't even count that as a lucid dream. For whatever reason that is the only time I've ever thought to try it while lucid, whether in a full fledged lucid dream, or just momentary lucidity.

I have a lot of theories of who she might be, but until I can ask her herself I can't be 100% sure (and even then I suppose the answer could simply be something my subconscious makes up).

      1. The spirit of my mom's miscarriage.
      2. My dream guide.
      3. An alternate universe version of myself if I were female
      4. A dream version of one of my imaginary friends from childhood who over time evolved into something else.

Who knows, I hope I can actually ask her at some point.

Sounds cool. I haven't noticed anything like that in my Dreams. No recurring characters that come close to the type your describing. I do see a certain female regularly when I become Lucid, but that's something else entirely... I think the next time I become Lucid I will have to see if there is someone like that for me.
      I Dreamed a Dream
In it, saw people I've never seen
      Gone places I've never been
And done things I'd do again.

Woah, I haven't seen that girl but once in the last 6 months (since I started dreaming lucidly) and I just saw her again last night. The friend girl, not the one I fell in love with. haha.

I think that this might be it. Maybe not "something else." but maybe it is that you actually convinced your subconscious that that person was real, and it just aged it from there. I also had an imaginary friend when I was younger, but it was mostly just me laying in bed trying to sleep. I would go off on adventures in my head since I had troubles going to sleep. This person seemed to develop a personality over time, and seemed to run into my dreams a lot since I would do this before bed. This was the start of me incubating dreams.

I don't know, there are a few reasons why that doesn't quite make sense, but then again none of those explanations really do. Actually, to me, the 3rd one seems the most logical, more or less the possibility that she is just how my subconscious sees me if I were a girl. Again though, I can't be sure of any of those really, its all just speculation, and in reality none of those might be the answer.
