Lack of 'extra' DC's

Ive noticed that in nearly all my dreams, the dc's i dont interact with are usually so few, next to nothing. Even if im near a shopping area or in a mall.... Its just empty! I was wondering if anyone else has similar experiences? I once had like 100 extras when i was in a college, but that was a one and only! Also, why?

It seems like I usually don't have a lot of extras either, aside from a dream the other night where I was just sitting on a huge platform that moved slowly over fields and cities, and there were hundreds of people crowded on the platform with me (though they were mostly behind me - maybe I only had the feeling they were there). As for why? Extras get union scale.. Maybe when crowds show up it means something - maybe dreams are economical with DCs and don't create any uneccessary ones. But of course now somebody's gonna pop in and say they always dream of giant crowds.

Yeah... I want to have more dreams with more people. Two nights ago i actually had a dream where everyone that lived there was sitting/standing around on one sidewalk. It was a hobo only town. Lol. There had to be a hundred of them. And while that was a lot, it was unnatural. No cars, no one except for two hobos in front of me were moving. But what should i expect, its a dream! I guess that would be the only reason. I wonder if there is a way i could induce there to be more, lol. Like, in a regular dream. But then again, i probably will want them to leave after i figure it out! There are even very few in my lucids. I suppose i could make there be more. Its just creepy to see a place desserted...

I have wondered the same thing myself. I have had non-lucids where I was in a crowed area mixed in a throng of people but usually my lucids I am alone or with one or two DCs. I've also noticed that familiar places like my house are usually sparely furnished or empty. Once I had personal task that involved me finding a particular item on a bookcase. It was non-existent until I actively looked for and made it important to me. Maybe it our brains only pick up what it important to us at the time. Think about waking life. Unless you are practicing sensory awareness, how much detail to you typically pay attention to? When you out grocery shopping how many people do you keep in your awareness? When you are browsing the forum on your computer do hold all of the things in the room in your consciousness? Maybe sometimes it is as simple as desiring simplicity and solitude? Hmm a curious thing indeed.

Lol it's like our dreams are little plays put on by the drama department in our subconscious, with only a few characters and a few simple props.

Now that you mention it I don't have many DCs at the same time in my dreams either. Even in a dream where there were riots in my town I only had the knowledge of them being there, I could here them and saw some crowds running past an alley but I never really saw them. The only times my dreams are crowded is at locations that are naturally crowded like nightclubs or something. But now that I think of it, once I spot familiar faces like a group of friends the entire crowd is only something I know is there but not visually present.

Interesting. You have had a dream about a riot. Have you seen one or been apart of one before? Now that you mention it, I have. I was in Lloret de Mar during the riot in 2011. We kinda just bumped into it. As soon as it turned ugly we were just trying to find our way back to our appartment which took a while. Every street seemed to be blocked so we kept our distance and looked through the alleyways to see if the streets were clear. Funny how I never linked that event to be the origin of this dream. Thanks for reminding me! I bet I'll dream about riots and rubber bullets tonight now haha.
