Thread: Leeches and Hell?

My dream: I was in hell, but that hell looked exactly like reality as I know it. Except there was something wrong with it. It was dark around the edges. The only way out of hell was a videogame-like passage, a sort of test for anyone to take at any time. There was a large, arched, stone hallway which was overgown with leaves and foliage, and running through that hallway was a river (the water was only about 3-4 feet deep. The river ended in a small beach that continued on to be a wide forest. However, the beach itself was within the confines of this stone hallway. The bottom of the river was completely coated in black leeches. If your body so much as touched a leech, it would latch on to you and the test was over for the time being. However, if you made it to the island without touching a leech, everything in sight (the leeches, the foliage, the sand, and the trees, would transform into beautiful, harmless roses, and you had the freedom to go anywhere, even escape hell. The shallowness of the water made it very difficult to avoid leeches. Also, the water had a few killer fish. If you wanted to fend off these fish, you had to be careful not to touch the leeches, and this proved nearly impossible. I tried this test twice. The first time was before I knew all the rules. My Mom and I were swimming towards the island, and I said I’d rather just walk across the river. She warned me against it, but it was too late, I’d put my foot down on the bed of leeches and suddenly I was swarmed by them. The second time, I went alone, but got a few leeches on my foot and failed again.

I just entered my second semester at college. I’m not far from home, and my relationship with my Mom is great. However, I have been having stressful dreams such as this one for weeks now.
