      City of My Dreams

I am living in a city where it is hard to find good housing, have really wanted to find a place where I can bring my family.

I was suprised to go to a city in my dream the other day. It was a city that I talked about moving to when I was in highschool but never actually went - that was a long time ago now. I was approaching the city there were houses on the outskirts, lots of houses in open fields. The voice in my head, like a tour guide, was telling me - there are lots of houses here. I was suddenly looking at the front door of one of the houses which looked a lot like a front door of the last house that I rented that was "mine".

Then I was suddenly up the hill, inside the city in a busy, brightly lit store inside the shopping mall. It was a like a bath shop that sold herbal bath - with flowers. It reminded me of a new hip retail store, the kind I used to work in, the kind of tea store that is popular in the city now. They were featuring a new herbal product on the wall - this is the part of the dream that I find the most intriguing - it was the words

      east
      moon

in a night sky coloured circle, with herbs that looked like pink phlox floating around it. It was some sort of bath product that was really good. Lots of people were in the shop, happily shopping.

It wasn't until I woke up that I realized that the east moon was in a full circle like a full moon.

To give the dream some context, I am living in a city where despite having studied for years at university, I don't seem to be qualified to do jobs that can really bring me the money for a dream - to have a house with a backyard. I wanted a back yard for my child to play in and I keep thinking about leaving everything and going somewhere where we could have a better future.

I had this dream the night after I finished some art that I had been working at for a long time (which included the font that "east moon" was written in). I have sent out the art and now have to continue sending it out to see if it will be accepted. It is my dream to make money from my art, enough to get my child a house with a back yard.

Now, after this dream, I wonder if I should just give up everything and try to move to this city of my dreams - it is a real place in the interior of my province.

Peace to you and thank you for all the insights.

At the very least, you could check your options for a job and housing in that city.

Thank you, gab. Thanks also for the move.

Part of the thing is, I have combed the opportunities in that dream city. It seems like employment is already a bit of an issue there. There are not a lot of jobs there.

Perhaps the crux of the issue - are dreams like fortelling of what will certainly happen or clues to what a person should make happen.

Dream can also be reflecting your thoughts and wishes. If that's a place you thinking about often, it's logical to be dreaming about it.

If finances were not an issue, than I would move. But if you don't have a job there, I would think about being able to pay for living there in the first place. If that place is in the stars for you, I'm sure you'll get there. Either way, good luck.

That is a good insight. I wonder sometimes about that ancient practice of "being warned in a dream". Is it that long ago people dreamed in a way where the message was clearer? Or were they more able to react?

Perhaps take some distractions out of your life, Drink more water and meditate and fast a day or two; Get more in-tune with the day and night cycle.

You have to take in mind, 2,000 years ago people didn't have cars or lightbulbs so they were more in-tune to the day and night cycle like the Hunzakuts are today.

Why am I such a hypocrite who's talking about something he doesn't even do...

I appreciate what you are saying though. We are "modern" people and it is hard to get in-tune. We have to imagine what it was like. I don't think that you are being hypocritical at all, just trying to figure it out.

And I think that you have hit on a key to the dream. The herbal aspect of the shop - even though it was packaged in modern day retail was really significant. Something that I have lost living in the inner-city. I almost forgot how much more in-tune I was back in high-school, living in a smaller town, closer to nature.

      Great insight, thank you.

So then, if I were to be more in-tune. IF I took that risk. What if that is really the voice, the same kind of voice they heard back then and followed. Would I be crazy to follow it now? Would I land on my feet or on my face?

There is, of course, all the cool and calm matters of basic logistics - rent, transport etc. Those aside, if someone took a leap like this - how much closer to the "cycles" - day and night, seasons would they be growing?

Does anyone have any insight about the image of the moon? The east moon would be a newly risen moon, I am guessing. The herbs looked a lot like pink phlox - in April some First Nations call the moon the "Pink Moon" because of the phlox.

East moon, pink moon, potential it seems.

I'm not saying that your dream is not telling you something. Let me tell you one of my experiences. Years ago, after i finished my studies and I was working in the office, I had a dream, in which I was a garden keeper. I was working with flowers and gardens. For over a week, I had the strongest feeling, that I missed my calling and I should have been doings something with flowers. Right now, years later, I'm not working with flowers, but I have a job that is my dream job and I wouldn't change it for anything.

So in my case, I would say, that dream reflected my love of nature. And had I changed my job then, I probably would have been happy. But I didn't, and I got an incredible opportunity to move half way accross the globe and after many years of doing something else, I got a job, that I really love.

I think, there is more than one avenue to happiness. If you think about what you want to achieve in your life, your mind listens to it and when it sees the opportunity, it will give you hints, in form of gut feeling and ideas.

If I was you, I would keep making plans of what I want to achieve. Keep an eye open for opportunities. And when they come, grab them.

As you falling asleep, think about the move and ask your higher self for help, guidance. You may have a dream with some briliant idea. But don't rely just on dreams. Make a list of pros and cons and take your time making your decision. Good luck.

      That was a good post.

First, I chose my name as three. Gab, you made post #9 on this thread, made at 3:39. That is 8 (eternity) sets of 3. There has to be something to it.

But I still can't help but wonder - what if we heed the first clear call of our dreams? I like the fact that you seem so happy, without regret that you did not follow the call to work with flowers that you heard so clearly in your dreams. For a moment I am relieved. You did not follow the clear call of that dream. What if you did? Do you ever wonder? I would love to hear again that you do not regret, that you feel you were not supposed to follow that dream but to understand love from that dream.

From my reading of what you wrote, the opportunity that you got to move to the job that you love now came soon after that dream. So the dream of flowers was a hint - not to follow a career with flowers - but a hint of love to come. Do I have that right?

Are these moments of nature, these visions of flowers and moons in our dreams just Creation seeping through, talking to us and reminding us of the feeling of love so that we might be inspired to follow love ( and joy and peace and hope) in our lives? Or are they very direct clues that we follow if we dare?

Perhaps part of the daring comes down to trusting the interpretation that we have about our dreams. Yet, dream interpretation is a gift that so few have. Is it hard to interpret dreams? Or do we kid ourselves to think that it is? Perhaps it is easier to interpret dreams than we think. IF we listened to our dreams, trusted what we thought and acted on what we found out after careful reflection then, well, we would be....

      What? Living our dreams?

I'm not very in-tune with the day and night cycle myself. I think if a person were to take the leap it would take time but eventually they'd be much more in-tune with it.
