      Inability to speak

      Hello,

Was just taking a chance on anyone having any information that could potentially help me out. Long time LD'er but was never too bothered about exploring it. Now ive done all the fun things i can think of and im becoming more interested with exploring the subconscious . My problem is whenever a person appears in a dream of mine i lose the ability to speak, instead just sound like a drunk idiot. Usually i'll do a few reality checks hoping to crystallize the dream and then try but it makes no difference. Im at a loss really and feel i cant start exploring the true benefits of LD until i can communicate within it.

Any help or anyone who has has the same problems would be much appreciated.

Hi Dayvid, and welcome to DreamViews.

My advice to you is to try singing instead. I discovered that because I could never scream or shout in a dream, but I can sing really loudly!

As an added bonus, it will make you aware of your dream body, which should stabilize your dream.

So next time, try putting a little musical theatre into your dream.

Alternatively: just use telepathy. Your dream characters will "hear" you even if you don't speak.

Happens to me but instead of my voice, I move really really slowly. (doesn't happen all the time, and I'm not sure what causes it) I did somehow manage to break out of it in my last dream, but I can't entirely remember what I did, I was trying to get through a door but I was moving insanely slow, and I just told myself to stop fucking around, and relax, and then I seemed to nearly turn back to normal speed, then I woke up. >:

Try and just relax, and really tell yourself that all what you are seeing now is created by YOU. You have control of what goes on and you are the brain.
