There's no way this has any objective truth in it.

I've never heard of or experienced anything like this. I don't think it's true in the least.

in dream yoga women are supposed to sleep on their left side (men on their right) for most of the night because sleeping on one side compresses an energy channel corresponding to a certain quality of consciousness. so yeah, according to that.. sounds right.

The nature of dreams is so heavily based on the placebo effect that if you believe that statement, then surely you'll notice that pattern. I believe this is also why dream catchers work.

      Hi Lyssa Dawn,

I've not noticed any difference in the the good/bad nature of my dreams based on which side I'm sleeping on, but I have noticed that hypnagogic/pompic dreams, and psi or psychic connections seem to occur only when I'm sleeping on my left side. The left side (right brain) is symbolically the feminine/intuitive side, so perhaps that has something to do with it? I don't know, really. I just never remember having those kinds of dreams laying on my right side. That might fall in line with what Cygnus is saying about dream yoga as well. Fortunately, I prefer sleeping on my left side anyway! I do turn to the right sometimes, just because I need to move, but I never stay there long.

As for Metaphyz1k's comments on the placebo effect, I can't agree with that, because it presumes my dreams are all just from ME, and I know they're not, so I can't see how a placebo effect would work. It's not as if I *try* to only have psi dreams when sleeping on my left side either, and I do have waking psi laying on my back or sitting in my recliner or on rare occasion walking across a room. But have noticed all this psychic silence if I sleep on my right side. Weird, huh? But then I can use that if I need some silence.

This is true, but it's not good dreams and bad dreams, it's left brain dreams and right brain dreams.

Sleeping on your side causes increased blood flow in one side of your head, causing that hemisphere of the brain to become dominant. The dreams have the qualities of the active hemisphere.

Left brain (right side of body) dreams are more logical, sequential, action based dreams. Right brain dreams are more abstract and concept based.

This is very interesting cusp, i've also heard that the right brain is responside for creativity and i think visualization. You can learn more about it if you do a good and type, right brain and dreaming or something. And last night i was reading something on how to activate the right and left side of your brain but i couldn't understand it. Does anybody here know how to activate one half of your brain, so you can have certain dreams?

This is a good chart of left and right brain functions.

      Sleep on your side.

When I first noticed it, I had overdosed on a flash game and was having repetitive game dreams where I was running around a dungeon. Kept waking up because of the heat and switching sides to get the cool side of the pillow.

When sleeping on my right side, I would encounter monsters to fight and travel the dungeon sequentially. But on my left side I would encounter wizards who would warp me to different locations and levels, it was very non linear and abstract.

I even started keeping track of my sleeping position in my DJ, although it's not often I remember to note it.

I definitely believe this is true. I bet if you didn't hear about it then it wouldn't have started happening. And I think you can always have good dreams if you believe you will; it works for me.

Right side sleeping causes Bad dreams and Left side causes better/good dreams in my case too

Hey! I am also facing the same trouble in my case. Whenever I try to sleep on my right side I start watching worst dreams such as witnessing death of my loved ones, Ghosts harassing me or my loved ones, every that thing which hurts.. While in case of sleeping on the left side I do dream about wonderful incidences even I do dream about the girlfriend whom I lost 5 years back and whom I don't miss in my conscious.
I want to admit that while watching bad dreams sleeping on my right side if I suddenly take a turn to my left side then that dream converts into a better and good dreams. It suddenly changes my mood also. I am really curious to know the reason behind this. That's why I'm searching for an answer on the internet. Please help me to know the truth. Can't I ever sleep on my right side peacefully?
