Exclamation Repeating Nighrmares & Sleep Paralysis!

In the past I've experienced some brief moments of SP. They really where not much of a concern to me as they where very short lasting, and had to connection to any sort of hallucinations. At the same time I've also been undergoing some potentially strange dreams. They have not necessarily been frightening, but a bit out of the ordinary.
Early in the AM, aprox Midnight I had a nightmare. A little shaken I get up for a while, then return to bed moments later. I say a few prayers (I'm Catholic), relax and fall back asleep. I have another nightmare, followed by a short false awakening which lead to Sleep Paralysis. Only this time, it was unlike any paralysis I've experienced. I was still in the dream atmosphere, and when I looked at my hands I could not recall how many fingers there where. This is where the real adrenaline rush comes in and I say to myself "I'm dreaming!". I then hear this really loud noise, as if something was approaching me. It eventually grew so noisy I snapped out of this state. It was really just my brother in the room, the sound I was hearing was just amplified. The creepy part is it felt as though I never woke, it was like I was not even asleep. More of a state. I just sat there in bed, confused performing a series of reality checks until I indeed concluded I was awake. At this point I'm too tired to get out of bed, so I just stay there with my eyes opened. Eventually drifting back to sleep, having a less severe dream. I constantly woke up and was dead paralyzed, to the point where I was unable to so much as blink. It was like being brain dead. (least it felt that way)
So in the end, what happened to me? Should I be concerned?
      A few backtracks:
-My sleep cycle has been changing rapidly as for the last couple of days I've been going to bed much earlier as I've had a bad cold
-I was actually thinking about LDing the same night, always been interested in the science behind it.

No need to fret, once you start to become aware of the sleep state you might notice all kinds of strange experiences. Like the distortion you experienced of the sound of your brother moving through the room, anxieties too can become amplified and distorted. But there's nothing to be afraid of, it's just sleep, which normally happens when we're not paying attention... naturally if you can stay observant during these transitions it's going to feel a little odd! However, if you can maintain your calm and equilibrium (by all means use prayer if it is reassuring) then there are many wonderful new things to experience!

Well let's just say with all these experiences, I've ruined many chances to LD. Heck even this morning. I have a phobia I won't like what I see once I hop up and start exploring my head. lol
