      Snowboard Training

      Hey guys!

I'm gonna be going on a ski trip next March for the first time (wasn't really interested in it the last couple years). I am gonna try my luck with a snowboard. I am a decent skateboarder and fairly good at kite surfing and wakeboarding.

Could I train snowboarding in my dreams, without really knowing the basic movements/having only seen them?

Any opinions or do any of you have any experience with that topic?

Never practiced in my dreams but I do snowboard. I think you do know the basic motions since you've skateboarded. I've never extensively pursued skateboarding but from what I do know of it I consider snowboarding virtually exactly the same. If you're experienced at skateboarding I'm sure you will pick it up really fast even if you don't practice with your dreams. Snowboarding isn't very similar to wakeboarding and I've never kite surfed so idk about that. A lot of people say surfing and snowboarding are similar but I don't think so...other than keeping your weight forward. Anyways, if you can lucid dream and decide to practice then just pretend you're going down a snowy hill on a skateboard. The hardest part may be waddling around on one foot while the other is strapped to the board.
Not an expert on the sports but I hope that helps!

      Thanks a lot!

The skateboarding part gives me hope

There is a thing called SnowDome near where I live, it's basically an enormous hall filled with hills and snow. I'll try to learn the basics, so I remember the movements and the feeling of snow and try to perfect them in my dreams.

I've tried snowboarding and found it to be nothing like skateboarding With skate boarding it's more about the lower body movements(?) whereas snowboarding focusses largely on upper body strength. Anyway, this is what I've found to be true although I was pretty shitty at it and am actually a skier(Way more fun). Either way, it's still tonnes of fun!!
      Good luck!

You can definitely practice sports during lucid dreaming. You can check out Dr. Daniel Erlachers Dissertation "motorisches Lernen im luziden Traum" which has one chapter about Prof. Paul Tholey, the German lucid dreaming pioneer.
He intensively practiced sports during lucid dreaming. E.g. he started skateboarding in 1978 and became European Champion in 1979.
He was also a great snowboarder, doing a handstand riding a snowboard.

I have had a few snowboarding dreams and the felt exactly like in waking life, and they weren't even lucid dreams.
So I am sure that you can practice snowboarding quite effectively if you consciously choose to do it.
