Question Hearing my Thoughts, Is this Hypnagogia, or Something Before?

So, when I lie down for a while and let my mind wander, I usually end up having conversations with myself in my head. They don't really make any sense, just my mind wandering around, random phrases and thoughts, etc. However, after a while, I realize I can actually hear these thoughts, like they are being spoken by someone. Most of the time, I become a lot more focused, and it stops, but if I just relax again, it starts again.

I don't recall seeing anything like the imagery that is usually described as going with hypnagogia, but I can see certain scenes very clearly in my mind's eye. Hypnagogia is the only thing I can think of, so my question is: is this some early stage of hypnagogia, or does this just happen when one's mind is allowed to wander for a while?

That's exactly how I am and I wish I knew also, I just couldn't put it into words lol :s but it usually happens when your just laying there relaxed right? It must be hypnagogia because I personally don't know what else it would be.

Same, I'm just confused about the lack of imagery. However, it could just be that it is an early stage of hypnagogia. I'm gonna see what I can do tonight, and see what (if any) kinds of thoughts I can remember. Will update in the morning!

So I've done some research and do you have anxiety or ocd or anything like that? I do and that could be one cause.
But it also does sound like it's more on the day dreaming side than anything else in my opinion... It happens to everyone and maybe because your close to being asleep you just become kind of aware of it?

Nothing like that, no. Once I suspected I was insane, but I was just young and stupid

I think it is probably closer to daydreaming, but I still want to investigate more. It could be the doorway to other things, eh? Anyway, I'm going to bed now, good night!

You tend to reach hypnagogia faster when you're tired.

Hypnagogia does not have to have visual imagery as well. In my experience, the majority of my hypnagogic hallucinations are auditory, as you described, but only very rarely will I 'see' anything as well.
