Hello fellow dreamers, I was just curious as to what your thoughts are when trying to sleep. Like do you always have this similar mental imagery that you use? just letting your mind wander? or just trying to 'black out' your thoughts, or something of the sorts?
I unfortunately at the moment do not recall too many of my dreams, (work in progress) but I usually have no light sources on, with my fan turned on towards me. I let my mind wander when i first hit the pillow, exploring whichever thoughts decide to pop up and if I don't drift off, to which seems to be around 20minutes, i'll use mental imagery to picture myself laying on a field of grass, feeling it beneath me. or i'll go to this other scene where i'm just staring at a waterfall, and usually these two will do the trick. But if not, and im trying to sleep, i'll really try to make sure my thoughts don't consist of much emotion, as i've heard that hinders falling asleep.
