Time is like you say, a perception. And perceptions is a state of mind. |
|
So, the question is how would you go about training your self to manipulate your perception of time at a whim? Your brain does it by its self depending on what you're doing, so it must be possible to grasp conscious control of it and change it when need be. How exactly would you train your self to change it? I would assume some sort of meditation to get into your mind and tinker with things but that's as far as I could think of doing. Past the step of getting into a meditative state I don't know what to do next. |

You are not your thoughts...
There's no specific reason, i just think it'd be useful. From being on a plane to going on a long car ride, wouldn't it be nice to make that 8 hour trip feel like 30 minutes? Along with the polar opposite, you're doing something you may never experience again, so you could change your perception of time and make a second feel like an hour. |
|
I think, in general, if your mind is occupied with something you find fun or interesting, the time will pass quickly. During plane rides, since I am a big scaredy cat, I will read a book or play a computer game. This can make a large amount of time go by quickly. |

Stephen LaBerge's tips for MILD: (http://www.dreamviews.com/lucid-expe...ml#post2160952
Oh ok. Yeah It may sound like a nice and tempting idea at first. But if we examined this idea a bit more, we will stumble up on all kind of paradoxes that comes with this idea of reduce or increase "time" in any exciting or bored state of mind. Time is only a perception to the mind. The mind needs the resistens of time to expand it's awareness further. So the boring 8 hour trip might feel boring or like a pain to the mind, but that is only because the mind isn't aware enough to appriciate the moments during this trip. If the mind is only used to be high on certain occasions. Then that means that it is reduced it's awareness to a smaller range of moments where full aliveness can be felt. |
