      Sex in Dreams

There seems to be a lot of it!

A very high proportion of my dreams have some sort of sexual contact with another person.

In my experience, it seems to be quite different from sex in real life. Firstly, it seems to happen very easily and casually, often almost within seconds of meeting the other person (always a woman, or at least a female, in my case). It doesn't seem to be associated with any taboo, it often takes place in public, with other people wandering around, not paying much attention. I don't think I've EVER recalled a dream that actually involved penetration. It often feels more like some sort of exchange of sexual energy, usually holding each other, but sometimes not even touching. It often involves being hyper-aware of the partner's response, actually FEELING her response, sharing in it. It often involves a near orgasm, but never an ejaculation.

Quite interesting. I know a woman who is a tantra teacher, and I've heard her talk about it, although I've never followed her classes or courses. It actually sounds like a lot of the things that I just mentioned above are part of tantric sexual practices.

I wonder if my experiences of sex in dreams are similar to other peoples? Are all those things typical of sex in dreams? Or does it vary a lot between individuals?

PS. I don't think LaBerge ever talks much about sex in dreams. If he does, I missed it. I guess dealing with sexual dysfunction might be another application for lucid dreaming, and an interesting one. Well, not just dysfunction. For exploring sexuality.

PPS. Hmm. I can think of one time a taboo came up. I mentioned my first lucid dream a couple of days ago. I had a sexual encounter with a girl who was probably 15 or 16. And it did briefly occur to me that I needed to think about that. And then I remembered ... It's a dream. I don't ever particularly feel attracted to very young women in real life. In my fifties, I tend to regard 30 as the age of consent.
