I was wondering if the ambient room temprature affects how vivid and memorable dreams are?

The reason I ask is because about 6 months ago I moved to a new appartment and my dream recall became very poor. I am typically quite comfortable in an environment that some people would consider cold, so I don't normally use heating much even in the winter.

However, I did leave the heating on a few nights during the last week, and each time that I did, my dreams seem to have become extremely vivid and I was able to remember much more of them.

Has anyone experimented with the effects of ambient temprature on dream recall? Has anyone drawn any conclusions on this matter?

I'm absolutely convinced that this has an effect. Maybe others would like to experiment with the idea to see if it really does improve dream recall?

      Interesting question. Some random thoughts:

Most recent BUMPER harvest of LDs was whilst I was lving in a 600 year old cottage in Wales a few years ago - it was fkucing freezing - but the dreams were amazing.

I went into a fancy matress showroom in London the other day and had a very long chat with the owner. He seemed very knowledgeable about sleep and assured me that if you can't sleep, you should get up and go outside/ stand in front of an open window to cool down. Don't know where this fits in - but body temperature drops when asleep.

Presumably for LDs you need to be comfortable but perhaps not tooooo comfortable? Isn't this is why cheese is supposed to make you dream - i.e. its a little difficult to digest, and so adds a bit of discomfort to the night...

Perhaps if you are normally comfortable relatively cool at night - then leaving the heating on provided this discomfort?

I prefer a cold room it is healthier and coming to winter I shall be steeping my feet in cold, preferably freezing water and the bed is warm. I find it is good for dream recall.
