I think dreams have meaning. Its how our subconscious regurgitates our reality. But the only one who can tell you what it means is the one who dreamed it, as their waking consciousness is the one that fuels the subconscious and its 'random' images.
for example, one time I freed a white-camel-horse from behind a fence, and it carried me to safety. what does that mean? I want a camel-horse hybrid for a pet??? I knew what the image meant because my friends had identified their personalities with animals. One thought she was like a horse, the other thought she was like a camel. I was 'aware' of this - this information is stored in my subconscious. And I was also aware before the dream that the color white is the color of friendship. So its not that hard to get how I personally viewed my relationships with my friends. My dream simply manifested my feelings into a bizarre visual experience.
but really, only the dreamer can decode the subconscious imagery. also, it only reflects how the dreamer feels *in most scenarios*. so lets say your friend feels you are depressed, that doesn't mean you are, thats just how your friend views her own reality.
and as others have suggested, 'you' in the dream might not have represented you at all. It could have been a representation of some aspect of your friend. Anyone in your dream can be a symbol of some personality trait that you have.
