how to choose what dreams to have

i figured out somthing interesting i thought id post up.

usualy when i watch a film/ play a computer game before going to sleep it doesnt have that much influence on my dreams (usualy).

but the other night i did some exersises/ tutorials for prepairing the body for sleep from the book 'exploring the world of lucid dreaming'.

so i did the exersise and THEN played GTA 4 for a bit and had loads of dreams about it (i know because i wake up after each dream after 3 in the morning).
i think what was key here is i played the game after i was prepaired for sleep, where as if i had prepaired for sleep after playing the game, the experience of the game would have been 'erased' from my mind as we usualy clear our mind for sleep.

just a note for all those people who are looking to choose what dreams they want to have.

ps if its a film your gonna watch, pick a film which realy swings your 'emotions' all over the place, like a very graphic film, or a very sad one.

Yup, it is called Dream Incubation. If you focus your mind on a certain subject, or do something right before you sleep, your mind can take many elements of your thoughts during that time.

Not sure, because I haven't tried it, but there's some technique called FAT or something, where you focus your attention on a small object. This can be used to aid in dream incubation. Can't remember where the tutorial is though.
