Unhappy New to this - Nervous and Scared

I haven't remembered my dreams in years...
Suddenly I started having very detailed and vivid dreams in the last month.
Last night I had a doozy.

In my dream my brother mailed my husband and myself - as well as my other brother and his wife airplane and cruise ship tickets.

Mind you I've never been on either.
We board the ship and just as we enter our state room, my brother grabs my hand and says he wants to show my something. He takes me to the upper level and we sit down and he say's that he invited us to spend some time together and wants to tell me something.
He hands me an envelope and tells me NOT to open it till I'm back in my state room, then say's that he was diagnosed with cancer.
And I start to cry and he tells me to stop - I ask him what the Dr.'s say.
He say's it's pancreotic cancer and only has 6 months to a year to live.
But doesn't want me to tell anyone else in the family.
Ask's me to sign some papers and and basically forget what he just told me -
To enjoy the trip and have fun.
Back in the state room I tell my husband and open the envelope and it has a pre-filled visa card and told to enjoy the trip on him.
When the time come's to contact the attorney in letter.

We go on to enjoy our time together and for the most part everything I see and do in the dream is so vivid and detailed.
On the last day at sea - My husband and I are stand on the deck patio of our state room ( if that's the right phrase - as we had a sliding patio door )
Anyway we hear screams and yelling but can't see anything or know what is going on.
A short time later there is a knock on the door and the Captain is standing there and say's that my brother jumped over board and comitted suicide.
That he left me more papers at the front desk and then I woke up.

PLEASE tell me what all this means.
      Really nervous and scared.

It means You're gay! J/K I've gotten lots of crazy dreams like that. It's nothing serious. There's no definitive book of interpreting dreams. What does your intuition tell you about this dream?

Dreams are always symbolic. Carl Jung was huge on archetypes in the unconcious mind. His interpretation of seeing water could represent your mood. etc.

      I'm not gay....
As for what it means to me - I'm not sure.
I love water and my family.
As I said I've never been on a cruise and my brother isn't ill ( as far as I know )
There is no cancer in the family - let alone prostate.
And believe me ---- I nor anyone else in the family is thinking of suicide.

If I knew what they meant I wouldn't be seeking advice.

These sorts of dreams are as common as Del Trotter. I had a dream just last week that my brother was dead. I know they tend to leave us with a negative, sinister feeling, but I have not heard one verifiable case of such dreams being in any way indicative of real happenings (other than in an oblique, symbolic way), and certainly never prophetic. Other than the inevitable sinister aftertaste, what exactly are you frightened of? Are you afraid this is a premonition of something bad, or what?

Don't tie yourself up in knots about it, will you?

I guess as a child I used to have premonitions or dreams and many did come true.
Once I dreamed that there was a thunderstorm and lightening hit a neighbors tree - which in turn started the house on fire. I told the neighbors and a week later a storm came up and my dream came true but because I told them - they were able to get the family out safely.

Other times I told my mother that I felt that something was wrong with my grandmother and the next day she had a heart attack and died.

Many years later, after I married - I awoke and told my husband that I had a bad feeling that something was wrong with my father and he told me to call my dad.
For some reason my phone wasn't working and we passed the feeling it off.
We went to visit friends and they said my step mom couldn't reach me and called them - to tell me that my dad had died.

Then for many years I never remembered any of my dreams and then lately I've been having many vivid dreams.
But this one seemed so strange and I didn't understand any meaning to it.
