It was probably not a good idea to do this...

I took about 12mg of Melatonin for my first time, I read it can cause good vividness w/your dreams so I decided to take a good dose.

So I drank a few beers, and I am now feeling a bit weird...like euphoric...woooaahhh

      I hope I'm ok eehhh..

I read meltoinin is safe, even if taken in high doses. But I read that 12mg is still very safe, what do you guys think?

      I feel weiirddd...

About 5mg is a fairly decent dosage. 12mg for a first time is a bit much, though should still be safe. Getting a headache from that much wouldn't be unexpected though.
Drinking can enhance the side-effects too, so it's for the best to avoid that.
You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.

      it's probably too late XD

so what sort of stuff can happen if you take too much your first time? is it not going to be the same as any other time?

Your body of course won't be used to that much melatonin. We only usually naturally produce about 5 - 25 micrograms of melatonin every night. It's recommended you start of with a smaller dosage and work up.

Everyobdy it's Ok I made it out! =)

So yeah, excuse some typos from my OP, I actually drank quite a lot and..yeah it wasn't a good idea.

Here's the full story, I went to my local Stater Bros. in the U.S and I was walking down the vitamin/supplement aisle. I noticed a little moon symbol on a bottle, and as I grabbed it and saw the bottle it said Melotonin.

I read it helps you sleep on the bottle, but I remembered I saw that there was some discussion on DV about it so I bought it. After researching the recommended dosage, and the maximum dosage before overdose I decided to take about 6mg.

However, after drinking X-D I felt confident with taking 12mg.

So, at the end of the night I was pretty buzzed, and good thing I ate some hotdogs before I took them. Or else the feelings probably would have been more powerful. *whew*

So I took 4 pills of (3mg each) for a total of 12mg.

About 10 min. after I took the pills, I started to feel like...really euphoric and kind of dizzy. I was getting somewhat nervous because it kicked in so fast. I actually didn't feel sleepy, so I kind of thought something was wrong because I figured I was just suppose to get really sleepy.

So I decided to drink a big glass of water and just lay down.

I started listening to some hemi-sync (i think that's what it is) mp3's to help me relax. I don't think it really helped. I placed my mp3 on the floor and just decided to try and sleep.

      I fell asleep pretty quick.

I woke up a few times in the night to get some more water. (the beer dehydrated me)

When I woke up I really couldn't remember my dreams, whether it was to the deep sleep the Meltonin put me in...or the beer suppressed my REM. I did however remember about 3 dreams when I woke up in the morning.

      They were all somewhate negative.

In 1 dreams, some family members died.
      My cousin was corrupt.
(can't recall 3rd ) But I remember that I DID remember, if that makes any sense.

They were all negative, which kind of confuses me.

So in conclusion, I'm not sure what the Melotinin actually did. Today I'm going to take a lower dose...maybe 6mg, no beer today. Don't do what I did:

"Only you can prevent a forest fire!"

      hahahhaa!

you're probably fine, Still I wouldn't reccomend taking any drug (except stuff for colds and the like) unless you are prescribed it.

      dude, it's not a drug. It's a natural supplement, and it's...

No Artificial Color, Flavor or Sweetner, No Preservatives, No Starch, No Milk, No Lactose, No Soy, No Gluten, No Wheat, No Yeast, No Fish, Sodium Free! or so the bottle says...

maybe it was just because your body wasn't used to it then. I don't want to sound like a health freak, but too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.

      I feel ya dude.

I think it was a combination of drinking way too much beforehand, and then taking 12mg for my first time is what made me go loopy for a while.

It was a learning experience, and I know what to expect next time.

So learn from my mistake everybody =)

Why did you want to drink beer and take dreaming supplements at the same time? They are kind of contradictory.

Well it wasn't that I actually "wanted" to drink beer and take Melatonin at the same time. Here's what actually happened...

I went to the store and bought some Melatonin, thinking to myself I'll try it out tonight.

A few friends came over and brought some brews, so I wasn't even thinking about what I was going to do (or what I was going to take) when bedtime came.

So by the end of the night I already had a few beers, with my head a little loose I remembered about the melatonin I planned to take earlier in the day.

Then I just took 4 pills.

It wasn't planned to take both and see what would happen.

Hey dude, now that I have taken melatonin for a little longer than a week. I can say that all it has done is increase my recall a tad bit better, and gives me some weird dreams.

I don't know how your recall is, but if it's good then it could benefit you. If you don't even have a dream journal then it probably won't do you any good.

Have you heard of "The Power of Supplements" by Thomas Yuschak ? It's a good book, research it. It talks about a wide range of supplements to take to induce lucid dreaming.

He talks about Melatonin, Galantamine, 5HTP, Choline, Nicotine etc..I have been reading it and it's a very good book. I highly recommend it.

      Goodluck dude.

Yeah i usually have good dream recall, and i think that melatonin definately helped with that. But the lucidness just isnt coming, its getting frustrating. I keep reading that you are almost required to have a dream journal to attain lucidity, i didnt believe this at first but maybe its true.

Well, if you have naturally good recall then it may not be necessary. The point for a dream journal is for 2 reasons:

      1) of course is so you can remember your dreams

      2) So you can tell your brain, that your dreams are important

By constantly updating your dream journal, your doing just that. Which in turn helps with your lucid attempts. It's a daily habit that is really helpful.

      But for each his own.

      goodluck!
