      suggestions??

I started trying to Ld about 6 weeks ago, i keep a very detailed dream journal everynight and can remember usually at least 2 dreams per night, usually 4 or more. i also do reality checks prob 15-30 times a day. about 3 weeks ago i had 2 quick lucids back to back. However nothing in my dreams made me think i was dreaming, i just randomly asked myself out of the blue if i was dreaming. I havent had an LD since then, i thought it would become easier but it hasnt.
Going through my dream journal i found that almost all my dreams either take place in a town i moved away from 6 years ago, or contain friends from that same town (lived there for 20 years) i need some suggestions on how to do reality checks during my waking hours in regards to these dream signs?? Like if i'm not in that town, or i dont ever see my old friends from that town, how can i perform reality checks?? i hope you guys understand what i mean by that....
I tell myself mantra's over and over saying "when i see old friends, or my old house do a reality check" but everynight when i dream i never do. getting frusterated because everyone morning i wake up and realise my dream signs were everywhere yet i cant get myself to do the reality checks when im dreaming.

Well dream signs are handy, but very situational (as you can see). You should also work on your awareness of things. Take everything in and be very observant of your surroundings. If you spot something thats off, or changes even in the slightest (location, color, legibility, ect), throw out a RC. Awareness helps make up for those times when your dream signs aren't popping up.

Forget everything on the sidelines, dream journals reality checks. Concentrate on doing specific tasks. One task in a dream. Start small, don't try to overpower yourself in the start.

You surely got some pictures of these friends and the town you lived in... Try watching your pictures and do your RC.

Let me see if i have this right. your suggesting i dont concentrate on the dream journal or reality checks at this point, and try doing a specific task in my dream?? for example, lets say that small task is, i dont know, climbing a ladder. So i should concentrate on having a dream where im climbing a ladder and maybe doing a reality check at that point and that will make me lucid????
IM not sure if thats what you mean?? let me know if thats right. seems like a good idea, with all the research i've done on lucid dreaming i havent come across that yet. thanks a lot.

Hey, do you mean work on my awareness during my waking hours??? or did you mean my awareness in the dream world? if you meant in my dream world, how do i go about doing that?? i dont beleive i ever stop and look at specific colors or textures in my dreams, im always doing something and never really focus on the specifics. how do i make my self more aware in my dreams????? any techniques or suggestions???

I think he meant your awareness in waking state...

Yeah...In the waking state. Eventually it carries over to your dreams, and you'll find yourself realizing that things just don't feel right, thus prompting you to RC based on that assumption.
