      dreaming in third person?

I have had dreams in third person. Like I was watching a movie. I want to have lucid dreams but I'm worried this could allow me not to become consciouss within a dream.

Nothing is difficult in a dream, its all in your head.

I don't think it would interfere with you becoming lucid. I also often dream in third person and I still end up becoming lucid, though my view often changes to first person once I'm more aware.

Well honestly most dreams you perceive in third person were actually first you just remember them as third person. Like if you think of something that happened a while back, sometimes you will think of it in third person.

But yeah it shouldnt hurt you, once I got good recall third person dreams stopped happening.

For me it seems to happen because I play a lot of video games, and those are often 3rd person. For most of my dreams, when I'm trying to remember them I can't actually remember if they were 3rd or 1st person, if that makes sense...

i too have alot of 3rd person dreams, but i don't think it will interfere with lucidity. I once went from a first person lucid dream to 3rd person and non lucid in the same dream.

Huh, I've also wondered about this. Most of my dreams are in third person. Or at least that's how I remember them. My first LD was third person, though, so I don't think it would matter.

I like to remain a silent observer even while lucid, just watching the dream scenes play out.
So I do not think you will lack being conscious in a dream, only if you fall into unawareness while dreaming.

Being alert & conscious of being conscious, one will be lucid.

well if it takes great recall to offset 3rd person dreams it might be a while for me.

I haven't remembered a single fragment of a dream in 4 days, leaving my dream journal to say "Couldn't remember a dream" or "Nothing to put down here" it's making me sad.

I have alot of 3rd person dream and I do think its related to the amount of time I spend playing games. also if I'm in a vehicle in a dream, 90% of the time its 3rd person. I've also had a HUD in a dream lmao I could see my health and radar in my field of vision

AffinityMage (+1) Although a lot less now. But considering you can have lucid dreams as an 'ego point', it's not going to stand in the way of you LDing. (AffinityMage, do you play JD by chance?)
