A big part of LDing is you have to have confidence and really believe that it works. Keep trying, and you'll get it sooner or later. (:

maybe you need to pause the practices for a time and then when fully rested practice again with more enthusiasm. Lucid Dreaming isn't a race for ultimate perfection, take your time and enjoy the ride. Who knows if you will have LDs while pausing?

Developing skill in LD takes a lot of discipline. No getting around it.

That said, I'm of the opinion that a person needs some initial success to convince himself that the effort will be worth it.

To get that initial success I would suggest galantamine and choline. You don't want to be dependent on supplements. You eventually want to be able to have LDs entirely on you own. But with any luck, supplements can give you a vivid, intense LD that will spark your interest.

You can do a search for details.

One the secrets of motivation is the purpose of the human mind. The human mind functions by predicting the results of behavior, from the smallest movement to accomplishments years down the road.

Motivation is thus measured in accordance with the principles of time binding.

If you lost it, it was because it was not thought much of to begin with.

Only 8 days and you're losing motivation? It took me 2 and a half years to get my first LD. Some people have more luck than others, but you have to remember not to give up just because you didn't have initial success.

The choline I'm familiar with is choline bitartrate. I don't know anything about choline inositol.

There is a good book on supplements by Thomas Yuschak called _Advanced Lucid Dreaming, the Power of Supplements_. He describes the usages of quite a few supplements.

He sure does, i do recommend that book since he describes when to take the different supplements, how much of each and some nice combinations and he describes what happends in the brain and why the combos are so useful.
      Good luck

If it becomes too frustrating, then take a break for a while. When I first began, I was in the same boat as you. A couple days into my "break", I had my first lucid dream. It was short, but it was enough to bring me back. Lucid dreaming should be fun, don't overload your brain and become angry. Just go with the flow. It will pay off, I promise.
      Lucid dreams, gotta love em.

I too, am new at lucid dreaming; I actually got inspired to start investigating lucid dreaming after I watched the movie 'INCEPTION' (good movie) about a month ago. Before I tried to lucid dream I wanted to learn how it worked, different techniques, and things that help improve your odds of having one (i.e. reality checks, dream journals, etc.) So now, only recently, I have tried several different techniques such as the WTBD method with no avail. But each time I try again, I can feel myself getting closer so I try not to lose hope or anything like that. So I suggest to you to not lose hope and keep trying...
I actually have ordered the Lucid Dreamer (galantamine and choline) from:

Advanced Dream Nutrition: Lucid Dreamer Product

I have heard many good reviews and stories behind this, so I look forward to trying it.

The first time you take a supplement like galantamine often produces the most dramatic effect. Prepare for your initial experience and don't waste it!

If you were studying with a spiritual master, he would probably require you to preform some sort of purification ritual the day before you had your experience. This is not nonsense. It energizes your subconscious, telling it that what you are doing is important and valuable. We keep dream journals for the same reason. If you approach it as routine, you may get little or no results.

My first experience with galantamine was absolutely mind blowing. Perception was as vivid, if not more vivid than waking reality. It was in every way another reality, and I was totally conscious and alert. After an experience like that, you will be highly motivated to hone your LD skills.

DawgBone, I really thank you for the reply, and I take the advice to heart... do you have any personal suggestions for me on how to use galantamine. You say your first experience with it was mind blowing... what method did you use to induce the lucid dream along with galantamine; do you recommend any certain process when you wake up to use the supplement?

As others have probably said before, 8 days is nothing. A lot of people take a few weeks to get their first LD. Be patient. It takes years of practice to master LDing, unless you're a natural.

Yuschak recommends that you take galantamine and choline after an initial period of deep sleep. So it is basically "wake and back to bed", say 3 to 4 hours after you go to sleep. He suggests that you don't do anything active, just take the supplements and then relax again. He then attempts a WILD. That's his technique.

I haven't mastered WILD yet, so I just go back to sleep. Getting back to sleep can take some time, maybe an hour or two. The supplements have a stimulating effect. Just stay relaxed. With any luck you will enter REM and become lucid automatically. That happened to me the first time. Otherwise use the usual techniques to become lucid in the dream.

Even if you don't become lucid the supplements will almost surely give you interesting dreams.

I recommend a break, and then trying again

I started not that long ago and after my first lucid aI went on holiday to visit family in Wales, so LDing was put to the back of my mind.

Whatdoyouknow? I got a ton of lucids during that holiday! Now I'm back and focusing on it again you don't want to exhaust yourself thinking about it constantly.

LDing takes a loooong time to master (if you even can) so just enjoy it and go with the flow

      Good luck, sweet dreams

Don't worry. It takes time for your first lucid dream.

I think it took me just under a month, and i got the impression that was pretty quick. It's worth it.
