      Becoming lucid in NREM?

So the other night I went to go to bed, no intentions of doing a WILD or anything, and not really thinking about much; just a normal night's sleep. After what I assume was about 30 minutes after I fell asleep, I suddenly became lucid during an NREM stage of sleep (I hadn't hit my first REM cycle.) It was very odd, because I remember the exact thoughts I was lost in, and what I was thinking about when I realized it. I wasn't in any kind of dream; it was just like when you "catch" yourself falling asleep when trying to WILD, but much later into it. I tried to move, but I was in SP, and before I could try to transition into a WILD I was woken up by my cat. Up until now, I wasn't really aware what goes on during NREM, and this has been pretty enlightening. I was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience?

i have become lucid in NREM but it was wierd because i wasnt actually in a dream, I just knew that I was asleep and I couldnt really see much and i could move around but it definetely was not a full on lucid dream.

Had something like this last night,
and as soon as I realized it was a "dream" I went back to the back of my eyelids just laying in bed

It wasn't really a "dream" per se. It was more like me being lost in thought, accompanied by HI/HH.

I used to get that all the time when I was doing dream yoga. It is a weird place to be.

It's hard for me, as someone who hasn't experienced this, to imagine the difference between being concious in a non-REM phase of sleep and being awake. Given that you are not in SP, what is the difference? I can relate to the feeling of being lost in thought, but I don't think I have ever been concious in a non-REM period.

I was in SP, though. Re-read my original post.

Doesn't SP occur only during REM sleep? (Or at least right before/after it?)

It was probably just before my first REM cycle, since I had been asleep for a while before I realized it.
