      Eyes closed when becoming lucid?

Is it just me or do you also start with your eyes closed?
This appears to be a problem for me because in my last 3 LD's the same thing has happened, I realize im dreaming,I reality check, I feel lucid kicking in, it shifts to 1st person and my eyes are closed and i cant open them, i can only see shapes forming through my eyes. I try to rub my hands and spin but it doesnt seem to work and after about 10 seconds i wake up...

I get that sometimes too. I usually can open my eyes with a bit of effort, but if that doesn't work for you maybe just try focusing on the shapes you see instead. They're just as real as the 'world' outside it, try grabbing them through the dark or just look as closely as you can at them to try to find some details to focus on. If you can do that you're pretty likely to have another world appear around it, and it's easy then to forget your eyes were closed at all

Maybe your dream eyes aren't closed so much as you're in the void?

Basically it's where everything is black, so yeah, kinda like when you have your eyes closed. Though for me I get there via a 'fade-to-black' type scenario. Anyway, spinning worked for me a couple of times to escape the blackness, though recently, falling backwards seems to be much more effective for me in salvaging LDs that are fading. I've never had much of an issue with worrying about waking up, but I can easily see how that can cause you to wake up via suggestion.

But yeah, void dealings are pretty common for me in LDing. I almost never have a LD without going into the void at some point, or having extreme blurriness, which from what I've read can lead to waking up or losing lucidity if not handled properly. To me, it's just an inconvenience. A new dreamscape is fine and all, but I'd rather explore more of the dream I first become lucid in... =(
