Help With Sexual Temptations

On average I have two lucid dreams per week. In the last ten lucid dreams I've had, about seven of them have ended prematurely because I pursued sexual drives. What usually happens is that I think to myself that I want to have sex, I summon a perfect 10 dream character, I get down with her, and in this process I get so excited that the dream fades out and I wake up. Don't get me wrong I like sex in lucid dreams, but I also see it as something that drastically limits the possibilities of lucid dreams. There is so much more to try - flying to the moon! entering the story of my favorite book! fighting hordes of zombies! scuba diving! spelunking! I want to do all these things but sex is preventing me from doing them. How can I control my sexual impulses in lucid dreams so that I can fully explore the possibilities of lucid dreams?

I find it helps a lot to set yourself a goal for your next lucid when you go to bed. "In my lucid dream, I will fly to the moon!" If I don't set myself any goals I often end up doing nothing. I basically wander around aimlessly waiting for something to happen. Don't get me wrong, this occasionally produces fantastic lucids, but still, setting goals is always nice. Remembering your goals after becoming lucid is not always easy though, especially in a DILD. With DILD's it helps me to think of my goal everytime I practice an RC. Chances are high if I RC in my dream I will also think of my goal out of habit.

Same thing here. I rather fly than have sexy time with a 10/10 girl. I usually don't wake up though but flying is much more fun IMO.

How can you control your sexual impulses? Just dont think about them, remove your attention to some other place and pursue other things.

ha ha! Nice one DarthDallas. Thanks everyone. I have some dream goals written out but I should try looking at them more and thinking about them more - especially right before I go to bed. According to Freud, the Id, aka the part of our psyche that has to do with basic drives and pleasure-seeking, has the most power in our dreams. Do you guys think this is true? Perhaps when we become lucid, the id is downplayed and instead the ego and the super-ego are given more power, since while lucid we can think morally and realistically?

I'd have to go with LawPaw on this one. And also see if planning your lucid dream before you go to bed works out for you. If you don't mind me asking as a noobie, how the hell have you gotten to two lucid dreams per week? I've only had a miserable 3 in my entire life...

Lol, some funny responses. I like the chastity belt idea. I used to do that to.. It really helps to have some goals written out. Try to find your dream guide instead of a hot chick. Why would you even want to have sex since it appears to make your lucid dreams go xbox 360 on you (100% failure rate).

My current goal is to enter the Dark Tower story and join the characters of that book series in their journey. For those of you who haven't read the Dark Tower series, its absolutely amazing and I strongly recommend it. The series is by Stephen King. I'll think about this goal tonight before I go to bed and we'll see what happens! If you don't mind me asking as a noobie, how the hell have you gotten to two lucid dreams per week? I've only had a miserable 3 in my entire life... I became interested in lucid dreaming mid August. I picked up the book Experiencing the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen Laberge and that has helped me tremendously. I was consistent and patient with routines such as a dream journal, reality checks and so on and now I have a decent ld rate. The best way for me to have lucid dreams now is the Wake back to bed technique. All it takes is patience and determination. BTW: its actually great to let them tease you and try to resist as much as u can - these ld are one of best I have Hmm... why? Ive noticed any sort of vigorous physical activity (inlcuding exercise, sex, masturbation.) tends to decrease chances of becoming lucid all-together. Well, from my experience anyway. I use to run most nights just before bed and noticed it wasnt good for my dreaming - so I run in the mornings now. Aswell as sex, when the gf's over - I find it somewhat hard to become lucid, even recall that nights dreams.
