I don't make comments on YouTube as a rule. I did once, years ago when the website first started, and the responses I got were so idiotic that I realized it's better just to not waste time commenting on those videos. I do watch them though!
But in defense of ignorant people (there is no defense for being rude, but we can be tolerant to ignorance), sleep paralysis can be frightening. It used to happen to me frequently when I was a kid. In fact, it runs in my family as it happens to several people in my family and we call it "getting stuck". It happened most often when I was a child and I had to train myself how to avoid the feeling or how to wake up from it or go back to sleep. The reason it was so frightening is that part of my dreaming mind would start to go into a nightmare even though my conscious mind knew that I was laying in bed unable to move and that none of this was real. That didn't change the fact that the pain inflicted and the terror I felt seemed very real- even though I knew I was asleep. Also sometimes I'd feel that I couldn't breath. I think this is a common experience for people who have sleep paralysis and if you've never heard of lucid dreaming, then you may not know how to control it. Nowadays, I wish I could get back the ability to slip into sleep paralysis so easily since I know now that it is a gateway to lucid dreaming! But I spent years training myself not to let it happen.
As for the people on YouTube, I can see how if a person is religious, they might blame this phenomenon on demons. Since the dawn of time people have blamed things on demons that they don't understand. Luckily for me, my family was never religious so I never had to deal with those sorts of delusions. I knew I was "stuck" in between waking and a bad dream. (Does it run in all families or just mine? It's strictly on my dad's side so I wonder if there is a genetic something or 'nother going on here).
The only thing you can do with ignorance like that is explain to people what sleep paralysis really is. There will probably be many people who find such information helpful who will just read the post and not comment or respond. You never know how many people you are helping. As for ignorant people who choose to remain that way, there is nothing you can do to help them. Just ignore them, though I know that is difficult to do!
