Why am I so stupid in dreams?

Okay, so last night I was dreaming that I was in my unkles old house, and I was about 18 years old and I was learning how to act. So, I dreamed that I was in the bathroom about to shower when suddenly I was gagging and I opened my mouth and purple goo was stuck in my throught! So I started to pull it out and I was crying and it felt so real! And while I was getting this stuff out of my mouth I relalized that it was a dream, but I didn't even try to make the goo go away or anything! And then I drempt that there was this realy ugly short dude and he kissed me, and I new I was dreaming and I knew it was discusting and I wanted to run away but it didn't even cross my mind to run or change the setting or anything, I forgot that I could control. I do this often, and it drives me nuts. And when I do try to do something like fly, or make someone/something appear I wake myself up! WHAT GIVES? please give me some advise about controling better, I'm going to bed soon and I don't want to forget to control or accedentaly wake myself up. Please help.

It is possible that you proclaimed that you were dreaming, but didn't truly know it. I've read about several instances where someone will literally declare that they're dreaming (or be told) and not technically go lucid. As for waking up when you use special powers, I'm wrestling with that issue myself. What I was recently told is that you should start out with very simple things in your dreams, like just walking around and observing your mind's creation. If you still want to use powers like that, you could try making something that tricks your mind into thinking that you're not the one doing anything (let's say you want to teleport. You could say, "This door leads to the moon," rather than just trying to teleport with willpower.). That's the best I can give for now; tell me if it helps! And sorry if I posted after you went to bed.

Your logic is turned off when your dreaming, so that also could be it.
