      Not exactly lucid dreaming but...

I have had lucid dreams so I absolutely know what they feel like. And I know that I haven't had a lucid dream for a few months now, but what I do have is certainly very strange. I seem to take the fact for granted that I am dreaming. I know I am dreaming, and then in my dreams I can give myself superpowers - like reversing events I don't want and making things appear. But they are not lucid dreams in that I don't take full control and there is no flash of blinding realisation that I remember happening in my past lucid dreams. It's just that I'll think things like: I hope I remember this when I wake up or I might try this in the morning. Or I try to get someone's phone number / or address and I write it down but I know that the writing won't be there when I wake up so I try to remember it but never can. It's very strange and I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else.

Yeah that's pretty typical. It's like your dreaming about lucid dreaming. The difference between a lucid and a non lucid dream is not whether or not you have control over the dream but whether the logic center in your brain is turned on. You have control, but you're not "awake" enough to notice it. An experienced LD would tell you to practice your reality checks. It's important to recognize situations that are out of the ordinary and then reality check. When ever something sudden or exciting happens in real life, reality check. Sooner or later you'll do this in a dream and hopefully attain lucidity.

I have had this a couple of times. And yeah, SystemsLock pretty much said it all.

Yes, I have had this. I wasn't sure to call this lucidity or not. I won't like something happening, and I will force myself to wake up. It's like I know I'm dreaming but ... Ho hum ... About the only power I have during these dreams is to wake myself. It's so strange. It's not the way I like to experience lucidity. I have had 1 terrific lucid dream but it was simply me jumping up and down saying, "Yay, I'm lucid" or something similar. I woke up. LOL
