My second lucid dream was definitely in color

That was an interesting article about black & white TV influencing dreams, btw.

The way I feel about it, as far as we know, we don't dream in any color, including black, white, yellow, red, etc. It is the value we place on the objects in our dreams that cause us to remember specific colors. We associate them with things that are present in our waking lives. It would only make sense that if we are only able to remember a few things in our dreams that are linked to a specific color, wouldn't it make sense to think that the rest of our dreams had no color at all?

Since dreams are part of our subconscious, and during dreams it's not responding to stimuli (for the most part), it'd be trivial to associate color with every tiny detail in our dreams.

If you break this down to: do we, as in I> dream in color, or does the brain as an organ dream in color?
If there was undeniable proof that your functioning brain does not dream in color the fact is that your memory percieves it and interprets it to be a color. So if you remember color then you in effect have had a color dream.
It is all an interpretation. You did not actually see a green apple or a red apple but your mind percieved it to be that. Which then, if remembered, is a memory. And a memory to each individual is all the proof you need.

Color is being taken out of context. As if to say do we dream in monsters? To your brain a color is no differant than a monster. You don't actually see a monster, because you were not looking through your eyes. You interpreted a monster and your brain labled it as such. And through the conditioned mind the monster was probably interpreted to be

I have no proof, but my belief is that I always dream in color -- I just don't usually notice the colors unless they are somehow important to the dream.

I remember one dream I had as a child where our storeroom at home somehow became some sort of elevator, and every time the doors closed they would be a different color. The colors in that dream were very vivid -- I'm not sure what they meant, but that dream convinced me that I do dream in color. I know that I've had several other dreams throughout my life where the colors stood out like that, so I'm positive that my dreams have color at least part of the time.

And yeah, I've had 3rd person dreams also.

My dreams are certainly in colour. Especially my first lucid dream which was the most vivid, resplendent, colourful dream I have ever experienced

i dream in clear.... ok i think its color but then again i could just be dreaming that im dreaming in color. i also have like 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th person dreams its very odd

I'm a guy and I've never had an black and white dream, my dreams also very often have incredibly cool lighting.

I have never not dreamed in color, but I know a person who usually dreams in b/w, and whenever they dream in color, parts of it show up in her life. Weird.

For my part, I usually switch between third and first person. And I am still myself, when I am third-person (only sometimes the DC which I am is NOT myself). It's kind of like directing a movie, but you've usually only got direct control over one character at a time, plus the dream setting when you're lucid. But I'll tell you one thing, having dreams in such a manner really eliminates a person's sense of self. In most of my dreams, there is no sense of "This is most definitely me."

Colors are always very vibrant in my dreams; I pay much more attention to color in dreams than in real life. I know it sounds impossible, but it has been a goal of mine to dream in four primary colors. The problem (big problem!) with this is that you are not able to dream senses that you have not had before. However, I have always wanted to find new colors, and maybe it could be done since you are not using sensory input anyway . Seriously though, I really have no idea of even how I could go about trying this .

I also want to try to dream in 4D, and I am more optimistic about this since I can visualize four dimensions quite well. I just need to master LDing more before I can really try it. What would be interesting about this is that I would have to use a visual feild that is cube-shaped (sphere-shaped?... blob shaped?...). Would having a 3D visual field instead of a 2D one constitute sensing things you have not sensed before? Maybe this would be a good first step toward finding new colors.

Could it be possible when you are lucid that you could add or take away color from your dreams if you ever so choose? Maybe the subconcious chooses whether it wants you to see in color or not.

I think that dreams could lead to proving the Superstring Theory as well since it may be possible to dream in new dimensions.

I also dream in color... Actually, I can never remember a time when I didn't.

I wanted to point out that about 25% of females have an additional color receptor that males do not have, so yes they do see additional parts of the color spectrum that males do not; however, 3 out of 4 girls see colors the same way that guys do.

Wow, 25%! I didn't know it was such a high percentage. Of course, the vast majority of the time the receptors are so similar that there is no practical difference. For full blown tetrachromaticism to occur, one of the extra receptors must be highly mutated so that the chemicals react with a totally different type of light than the other. This happens rarely and there is a big search for full tetrachromats. Many birds and fish have receptor in ultravioet wavelengths. If you want to know about this, you should probably google "tetrachromat"..

Yup. The extra receptor in females is right next to the normal "red" receptor, which means that the females exhibiting this trait probably see slightly more variations reds, pinks, oranges, etc. The extent is probably not that much, but it is measurable at least.

i usually always dream in colour, except for last night, which was in black and white, a very disturbing dream...
i think that might have added to the fear in the dream, now i think about it.

I never had a lucid ... and when i have a normal dream and remember it , i have no idea if it was in color or not ... but when images in my head move around they are in colour ...kinda ... like they Zip by in color and switch to next image. .. its hard to tell
