      thinking while dreaming

I've noticed In one of my dreams that could think while I was dreaming and control myself I wonder is this rare and if it's not when do people develop this from how many years of practicing in a dream

Basically half the forums here are about lucid dreaming, which is thinking and being aware you are in a dream, while dreaming. It is actually pretty easy to have a lucid dream, and you can have one after just a week or so of trying in some cases. What normally takes a lot of practice is doing it constantly, because in general it can be pretty random. And you might have one but then not another for a month or even longer.

When you say you're able to 'think' in your dreams, do you mean you're aware that you're dreaming, or just that the dream feels very lifelike and vivid?

your description of most people is too broad when it comes to dreaming, differnt cultures place difference importance on dreams and depending on the curcumstances your dreams will be very different indeed. I have had recall that was like life and at other times my recall was so poor that within seconds its fuzzy memory failed.

Dreams are actually explorations by the real you into some other reality/dimensions/heavens etc. Whether you like it or not or whether you believe it or not, you are actually out of your body temporarily when you sleep. When people die, it is the real you that is always dreaming that continues to live in other dimensions or heavens as Soul (the real you) discards of the physical body through death (one way or another - accidents, sickness, drowning, gunshot etc)
When you become lucid - you know you are dreaming and that you are not in your body. That is the real you. You can think. You are free. And you return back into the prison of the human body until you can experience the freedom of the real you consciously again. Mastering lucidity which is ample proof enough that we exist out of out bodies in full consciouness takes practice and dedication. Yet, it is a worthwhile goal which you cherish after learning the rudimentary and mastering the art. You can read more about lucidity and its techniques and and also post similar question at dreamtwits.com. forum members are experienced and will readily give you great insights into your questions.
      Happy dream adventures.

It depends. Lucid dreams can be a little fuzzy because they often occur as you start waking up. Though it is entirely possible for a dream to be as real looking as real life.

Because your dreams are real in general, of course. Really, the way people dream differ vastly, so it is just how you dream.
