      Lotus position

ok, im trying to get into the whole meditation thing. a lot of the websites i checked out said that sitting in the lotus position is really helpful and effective. but i can barely get my legs to bend that way. i can, but it hurts like a bitch, and it slips out after a couple seconds.

what im wondering is, is the lotus position really so effective that its worth learning and getting used to? (because if it is, i will do it) and if so, how would i go about getting my body used to sitting like that?
All I know is that i don't know nothing.

I've heard you can sit any way you want as long as your SPINE is straight.
I sit cross legged with my back against a wall of some kind, the reason why i dont lay down is because i would fall asleep.
its pretty much whatever makes you happy, or floats your boat!

I can't sit cross-legged worth anything so I sit up with my back straight and stretch my legs out crossed at the ankles. Does wonders for me.

I know nothing of meditation but I learned about good posture through physical theropy.I wonder if the two are linked?

I heard you can just sit down in a chair. I read on a website that told of the techniques for meditating. Wish I had a link for you.

Well, you can use meditation for physical theropy too. I suppose it is then.

Utilize mindful meditation. Meditate in all that you do, walking, sitting, talking. It is almost like LDing because you are aware of both the conscious and superconscious together.

It has something to do with the flow of energy to the brain throught the CNS or something.

I need a map of your head, translated into English so I can learn to not make you frown.
You’d feel better if you’d vent, put your frustrations into four letter words and let them out on mine, the most weathered ears in town.

The back is kept straight so the energy flows from the kundalini (the seat of energy located at the base of the spine) upwards through each of the chakras.

sometimes it just takes getting used to, like when i first started meditating i could only do it for 20 minutes, cause i was uncomfortable, and i just couldnt get it, now i can do it for probably more than an hour.

Today, everything was fine. Until roundabout, quarter to nine, I suddenly found myself in a bind. Was it something I said? Something I read an manifested that’s getting you down.[/b]
