Do you remember how in Inception Cobb explained how there is a sort of feedback loop of your subconsious mind creating the dream while your consious mind percieves what the dream means? I believe this is a very accurate representiation of the creative process of the dream.

When we dream, our SC (subconsious mind) creates our dream world continuously from input from our consious mind(although considerably less logical and analytical). For example, i find myself in a non lucid dream inside what initially appears to be my bedroom. Taking a few quick glimpses around, but not paying attention to much detail, I percieve this to be true, and so for the moment I am in my bedroom. Now say that my SC adds some previous fragment of some memory from the past week into the dream. Suddenly as I am laying on my bed, my friend walks into my room with an airsoft pistol in hand. I see my friend with his airsoft pistol, and percieve that we are about to play airsoft (the last week my friends and I had an airsoft war. Scince my consious mind is numbed down because its a nonlucid dream, I jump to conclusions faster, especially scince It feeds off a recent memory). I notice for the first time my own airsoft gun lying next to me on the bed. With the airsoft idea reinforced, I now pay a little more attention to my surroundings and realize that I'm actually in my friends bedroom(my SC took my perception of playing airsoft and made it come true, e.g. my airsoft gun and being at my friend's house.) we go outside and play airsoft.

When dreaming, in nonlucids, you generally accept your surroundings with little or no thought. Your SC creates the dream off of what you percieve in the dream. Glancing at something briefly gives it little detail, because my SC adds more detail when you pay attention to the object. If I actually am looking for detail, as I pay more attention to the object, it becomes more detailed. This is why dreams seem like they completely change their plot or setting sometimes, because if you more or less just look at something and percieve that it is a lamp, but then later look more closely and realize that it is a coathanger, in the morning you will see that that is illogical and berate yourself for missing this dream sign, but in the dream you dont think its unusual because now you see that it was actually a coathanger in the first place.

When you are lucid, you have more control over the percieving aspect of the creation loop, so you can control the content of your dreams while your SC actually makes the detail of the dream. When you say or think, "I hope a monster doesnt appear in that alley", your already percieving the likihood of that occuring, so the SC brings it into existance.

I hope I explained that well enough, and sorry for the gramar and spelling mistakes, I'm in a rush. This is my personal theory on dream creation. Do you think this is accurate?
