      Help with WILD'ing?

Before going to sleep last night, for about 20 minutes I just keep saying in my head "You will wake up after your dream" over and over. Surprisingly, I woke up at 4am right after a dream. I don't remember much about the dream before- but I was going to try and WILD for the first time. I just got in a comfortable position- and didn't move at all for about 10 minutes or so. I forgot the stretch before trying, and my legs were starting to feel weird so I got up, stretched, and tried again. This time, I was starting to have a lot of FA's or things like it. I would imagine myself starting to move around in bed- and quickly sitting up from bed. I tried to calm my self and imagine the place I wanted to dream about. I wanted to dream about Freshmen Hallway at the school I am currently attending. For some reason, all of my dreams have taken place there ever since December, and I wanted to LD there to find out why I might have been dreaming about that place.

Every passing minute, I would get more excited as I thought I was coming closer to starting a dream. But, I never passed over into a dream world or anything like that. I lied down for a good 25 minutes and nothing happened. I finally gave up after 30 minutes because my back started to itch. Why might this be? Do some people have to stay still like that for even longer? What happened? I really want to try to lucid dream this way but I really have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Could a more advanced WILD'er help me out with this?

      Thanks

      Mistake number 1: Being excited.

I recall reading something in one of the guides on lucid dreaming, stating that lucid dreaming is like luring a bird. The second that bird touches you, you become lucid and enter a dream.
The catch, though, is that the bird is telepathic. The more you think about lucid dreaming, the further away the bird flies. But the less you think about it, seeds appear on your shoulder and the bird gets closer. Something along those lines anyway.

Mistake number 2: You were impatient, the first rule of lucid dreaming is: To fall asleep.

One cannot fall asleep if one's mind is racing with thoughts. To WILD you have to fall asleep, while simultaneously maintaining just enough conscious power to realize the transcendence into the dream state. Also, 25 minutes may not be a good time frame for you. Some people struggle with staying still for an hour or more before
entering a dream, some mess up at that point but are determined to start over.

Lucid dreaming coexists with the Law of Receiving. You get what you put in, if you are impatient with your WILDS than chances are you may not ever receive one.
If you are not doing everything you can to achieve a lucid dream, you may not get them on a daily basis.

Sorry for the the bluntness. I am not an expert myself by ANY means, and maybe someone else will have a better answer.

Remember, you get out what you put forth. Just my thoughts, hope you have a lucid dream tonight! Heres a free reality check for you xD

Are you dreaming? As you read these words are you in a familiar surrounding? Is anything out of place? Look at your hands, do they still contain 10 fingers?

What should my state of mind be for next time? I dont think im going to start really working on WILD's until I can master remembering my dreams- but its always good to know just in case I get the chance.

Just to let you know, your dream recall wouldn't effect your ability to wild. In my opinion, like lucidteammate said, your mindset should be set on falling asleep! Your mind should be empty as you try and get to that relaxed state. If you find that hard, try and wake up earlier in the night.
