      Exclamation Really confused. Help Please!!

      Hey guys.
      Ok so heres the story.
Last night I went to bed at 10, and had an alarm set to wake me up at 3:00.
I tried to go to sleep with FILD, but failed. Then at 3:00, got woken up by my vibrate alarm, tried to go to sleep with FILD, but failed again.. Thats not the part im confused about though.
At about 6:00, I woke up naturally, and was quite awake.
I decided that I'd randomly just try going to sleep thinking "Im going to Lucid Dream"...
Then... IT WORKED! It was my first real lucid dream ever! (Ive had a false awakening before, but it didnt really count) Anyway, so, I was in my dream, and I was like "Oh yea, Im dreaming!" "Lets go do some Reality Checks"... So, I went down the road, and looked in the window of a van, and I looked normal?? (Isnt it meant to be distorted, etc?) Then, I was like "Ok, random. Lets try another one" So I kept going down the road, and asked a man what the time was (He had an analog watch on his right hand, and a digital on his left). He showed me, and it showed 10:15 on both watches. So i looked away, and asked him 2 more times, and each time, it was the same!
      Then I woke up.

Is there something wrong with me or what? Please help!

No there's nothing wrong, not all dreams are distorted. It sounds like yours was pretty vivd. About the watch thing, it's going to be whatever time you expect. When you looked away, and then back, you expected it to be the same. Time isn't going to distort just because you're in a dream, it's going to mold to your thoughts.

Try doing a more obvious reality check, like trying to breath with your mouth closed, or putting your finger through your palm. Also, look at your fingers, you'll almost certainly have more or less than ten!
      Lucid Goals

Oh mean! Yea it was pretty vivid. Ok, I just thought that it always changed, as ive never been in one before

Yea I forgot about the fingers one! I also forgot to rub my hands.. Thats useful at the start of the dream aye?
And, if I spin at the start of the dream, will it get me deeper into the dream? Or is it only useful when you feel it fading away?
And when your spinning, do you have your arms streched out or not?

      Thanks heaps.

Oh and by the way. What do you guys think would be some good things to try since im only a LD noob?
I just dont wanna try too intense stuff yet, you know?

      Thanks again.

Haha, spinning is useful when your wanting to anchor your dream, and also when the dream is fading; rubbing your hands together works the same way. Basically using your senses really helps. Try looking at things to try and spot the finest detail, this will increase the overall detail of the dream. A good time to try all of this, is at the beginning of the dream so you can kind of lock it in.

In my next lucid dream I'm going to try and lick everything I see so I can become more attached to my environment

You can find numerous threads on different strategies and techniques if you just read through the forum a bit. Lots of the things you want to try are in your waking life, check out some threads on awareness, look through the "lucid aids" section, and maybe even the wiki to read up on some different methods of having LDs.

I like the jump off second step method. For some reason gravity does not work right in my dreams
