      Meditating while Lucid

I'm very curious if this is possible.

I suspect that particular forms of meditation, and certain stages of sleep both use the same portion or portions of an individual's brain. What would result from meditating while being lucid? A more complete form of meditation? Or a complete loss of lucidity?

Hmm... Tapping into the inner or higher self while in a subconscious state of reality.
If anyone as done this, I would be estatic to read their results.

Perhaps we could even turn this thread into a challenge journal: If you decide to try it out, post what happens here. Do you have an increase sense of awareness or unity, a higher potential with intelligent infinity? Or does the state of meditation while asleep, cause you to slip back into non-lucid sleep?

I'm excited to hear from you all!
In the mean time, I'll be attempting this as well.

I have heard of people meditating in lucid dreams before and its supposed to be pretty peaceful. I've always wanted to try it but have yet to do so, i'm working more on dream control atm. It would be a really nice way to end a lucid dream.

It would be so amazing to establish a connection with the self while in a dream. A member of the site, Fallenawake, had a real nice lucid experience with the higher self a while back.Higher Self then a Higher Question - Dream Journals - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views Its the only one i have seen so far.

I'll let you know if i do meditate in a lucid dream. I owe my last lucid dream to a long day of meditation, or i give the meditation credit anyway

I haven't tried it, but I would expect a few different things to happen. When you close your eyes to meditate, the first things you'll do is cause your dream to go black. Then, you'll probably either slip back into sleep, or your subconscious will keep trying to reestablish a dream, or you'll wake up. Whenever I close my eyes in a dream, I usually just end up getting teleported somewhere after sitting in darkness for a little bit. It always feels like my eyes are closed within the dream, and if I try opening them, I end up opening my actual eyes and waking up. I've since learned not to try opening them, and rather keeping them shut, and when I do, I just sit in darkness like I said until I either slip back into sleep or the dream reappears.

Another related speculation, monks who go into deep meditation and experience astral projection or even nirvana, are thought to be simply performing a WILD. Because they sit still for so long, their body goes into sleep paralysis and they begin having a lucid dream from a waking state. So in a since, dreaming is already kind of like deep mediation (or at least an effect of), so to me meditating within a dream seems a little redundant...

I closed my dream eyes during a lucid one time, posed a question asking the answer to be revealed to me and ended up getting what i think was a false awakening. "i could hear my wife moving around in bed randomly saying i understand it works!" What i took from that was the method in which i needed to obtain the answers im looking for and rewording my request to "show me" instead of "reveal to me".... hehe. Imho. namaste
