When you are falling asleep, there is a point before you are completely asleep, yet after you are no longer conscious, where your body will become paralyzed. This happens so that when you are sleeping, or dreaming, you dont act out certain actions. [Ever notice how a dogs feet move when it sleeps?] ... How bad would it be if you had a dream about running, and you werent in SP, you would be kicking and hitting all over the place in your bed..
Usually, the person is unaware of this this change your body makes when you fall asleep. There are incidents where the person would wake up, and the body hasnt become aware that the mind is awake fast enough for the conscious to not notice.. So the person is in SP, and begins to think their body isnt working anymore..
Lucid Dreamers are VERY familiar with Sleep Paralysis, as it is a regular occurring stage during the WBTB technique. There is absolutely NO harm with SP, as well as there are many tricks which you can do to get out of SP within seconds.
