Thread: Is this lucid dreaming?

I've had about four dreams which I think have been lucid, however, when I wake up I have difficulty remembering the dream, and during it I make decisions which I am unsure to be conscious or unconscious. The things I do in the dreams are exactly what I would imagine I would do in real life, and seem of my own volition. But since I don't remember the dream very well, how do I know it isn't just my subconscious telling me how to act? In all of these dreams at some point I told myself I was dreaming, and every time this happens I get excited and try do things. For instance, in my first lucid dream I was shot in the head and lived, so I thought "This must be a dream!" so I excitedly looked around and felt the grass beneath my feet. In another dream I received a free Mighty Kid's Meal from a band I've never heard of, and, since getting free things is one of my dream signs, I knew I was dreaming. So in order to prolong the dream I began to spin around in circles, as I've told myself to do in waking life many times before. Are these dreams of the lucid variety or just normal dreams, or maybe something in between? I don't keep a dream journal so I think maybe I just can't remember them well enough.

If you knew you were dreaming, then it was a lucid dream. Although there are different degrees of lucidity.
If you were to keep a dream journal, it would probably help with your recall.
