      WILD question

Hello all, I am very interested in attempting to perform a WILD. I have one question, however, the answer to which I cannot find elsewhere. Do I need to be able to fall to sleep quickly to be able to WILD? I have trouble getting to sleep when I try, and I am wondering if this unpleasanty could affect my success rate with this technique.
      Thanks,
      Asmodean Borislav

I don't think so. I think it just needs to be under circumstances in which you're tired enough to fall asleep then if you want to, but awake enough to retain consciousness. If you're asking about how long it generally takes you to fall asleep at night, it takes me at least two hours after getting in bed at night to fall asleep in most cases, and I was able to start having a WILD once. So I wouldn't worry, just try it.

On the face of it, no. HOWEVER - why do you have trouble sleeping? Stress, racing thoughts, etc? If so, I would recommend taking up just 10-15 minutes a day for some quiet relaxation and meditation. This will greatly improve your chances of successful WILD. I don't think that WILDing is a 'difficult' process as some people think, I think that it's more a very fine and sensitive process. I have had many LDs now, probably about 40+ in the last year but they are all DILDs except for one which was half WILD, half DILD. A few people are natural WILDers though, and you could well be one of them! Give it a go and see what happens..

You don't NEED to fall asleep quickly. But it defiantly helps. Remember you actually have to sleep to dream.

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

Thanks for the words of advice. The reason that I can't fall to sleep is simply insomnia. I've been an insomniac since I was young, and my body simply needs less sleep than most. That being said, I cannot nap in the afternoon etc. For some reason the four hours of sleep I get per night still allows me five recalled dreams though, which is interesting. Anyways, back on topic, I have no trouble relaxing or clearing my mind, however I am wondering whether I will be able to fall asleep once I hit SP, or if I will simply remain awake as I sometimes do during a WBTB. I'll give it a go tomorrow morning, and hope for the best!
      Cheers,
      Asmodean
