      2 new techniques(Experimental)

I have been utterly fascinated with lucid dreaming since i first discoverd it some 3 years back, in that period i have kept a dream journal that now has about 300 pages in it and have conducted surveys on my dreams(which is highly informative!, you should all definatnly try it, great idea for gaging dream signs...ie, what enviroment do you find yourself in most)...

I have connected with the dreamworld and now appreciate it so much more/
I have had just 22 LDs in this time but each one has been almost life affirmingly amazing!

Anyway, as far as im concerned the WILD tec is still by far the most powerfull, the most fun, and the easitest to remember after awakening. It can be hard but it is just so amazing to step conciiously into a dream and too feel all the sensations that go with it..

Anyway both these techniques are experimental and I'd like to know what you guys think or if you would like to try this and report back in a few weeks!

      TEC 1

The eyes open eyes closed technique(EOEC):

This may be a bit extreme, but that is why it may just work!
it is infact so extreme that one may only feel like trying it just once a week.

The trick here is to literally deprive yourself of any visual stimuli for a full day, i.e use a blindfold(a clean sock will do or be creative) to cover your eyes.
Ideally this would be a day of relaxation and literrally moving around the house blind.
      Maybe a saturday.

This is simply it, the whole trick is to, thoughout the day, remind yourself that "next time I can see.... i am dreaming" and use it as a mantra. The sheer contrast between not seeing for over 12 hours and then suddenly seeing in a dream may just jolt your brain into the right state of overwhelming shock to remind you that you are dreaming.

alternativly(and maybe more effectvily) you could only partly obscure your vision by using a material that is still "see throughable". not only would this be easier but it may also annoy you, which is good becuase that releif of being able to see properly may remind you you are dreaming!

the mantra in this case wud be "next time i can see clearly i will be dreaming".

      TEC 2

      The Visual Remembrance Tecnique(VRT)

This invovles(and i have already done it for the last 3 days) placing paper with a red dot in the middle(or any suffiecnly obvious symbol you like) at particular places in your house that you visit often, i.e the bathroom wall.
I reccomend even in the hall as you wil be coming up and downstairs alot.
i have 4 around the house.

simply a cut piece of paper with a bright red dot in the middle stuck to the wall via ever usefull blu tak.

The trick here is, ever single time you walk past one you truly question reality as well as perform a reality check(my personall favorite is checking if you can breath through you nose and mouth while they are covered).

This will amount to quite a volume of reality checks in the day and you will find yourself actaully looking up at the sign ever now and then subconciously which is good.

The goal is to impress these reality check symbols in your mind so much that it becomes accustomed to seeing them in the house. therefore they will hopefully pop up in your dreams(granted, you must be dreaming about your house,
my survey showed in am in my house more then any other palce in my dream enviroments, next was random parks oddly?)..

Intriguingly, I have already had these symbols appear in my dream, it was actaully in the wrong place(a different wall) so i performed a reality check in the dream and as soon as i realised it was a dream i actaully got dragged up to the ceiling by an invisible force and woke up in mighty sleep paralysis, but this is great evidence that it could work!

Anyway, what do you guys think, will anyone put them too the test,or are they simply too extreme!

Im off to blind fold myself!!

first technique sounds extreme but ill give it a go, however the second one sounds in my league because i struggle to do reality checks consistently, so thanks!

I love the sound of your first technique, it seems like a pretty good way to get your mind to realize you're dreaming. After such a long time without sight, any good visual cue after you fall asleep might be just what one might need to have a lucid dream fast.

I'd definitely try it, but it might be awhile before I have some time to blind myself for a day... lol

Instead of being "blind" for a day, could you do something like wear dark red glasses for a day? Or use anything that impairs or alters your vision?

I think nomad said one somewhere (cant remember just remember it was one of his) to reality check everytime you go through a doorway, i always forget though, the dot one would be cool but my parents would be like "what are these" so it wouldnt work so well with me.

The firt one i may try but not being able to see for a whole day would be horrible and probably make me appreciate eyesight a lot more.

Can't wait to try the first one! It could be an interesting experience even if it doesn't result in a lucid dream. Plus sounds like a good day for audio-books. Thanks for sharing!

well, many times when I DILD, I immediately realize I am dreaming from my dream sign, but I am too groggy to really do anything. I will break away and have control for about 10 seconds, say 5 times in the dream, but other than that I just progress, while all the time knowing I am lucid

indeed you could, but i would reccomend a mateiral that is see throug ish rather then glasses simply becuase the experiment would invovle falling asleep with the actual visual disrupter(sounds like somethign from star wars eh?) ON.....and i dont think you should fall asleep with glasses on just in case..anythign that disrupts your vision to the point where it actually gets annoying is good becuase the sheer relief of beign able to see properly may just be what is needed to say...OH, i can see again, wait im lucid!
