During the day, practice awareness. Be aware of as much sensory input as possible, and keep a mental check of your current state at all times. I find school is in fact beneficial for awareness because the excitement and activity often causes us to "zone out," much like in dreams, and so it is a good practice ground for keeping aware.
Like ThePieMan said, at night take the time to practice MILD. Either before going to bed or while falling asleep, suggest to yourself that you will have a lucid dream, and truly believe it.
Also, if you find yourself waking up randomly in the night, you can put a little effort into WILDing. If you're not successful within the first few minutes, then you can just stop trying and fall naturally back to sleep.
If keeping a dream journal is too taxing, then just make sure each time you wake up to think back and just see if you can remember a dream. Trace it back in your head and try to remember as much as possible. You won't remember every dream you've had if you don't write them down, but this practice will at least give you the opportunity to remember the ones you want.
On the weekends, you can take some more time to really refine your practice, but school starting does not have to be a death sentence for your LDing goal.
