Looking into a mirror while dreaming

The other night I had a WILD. And as all of my WILDs go, I realize I feel myself go into my dream but am in the same position I am laying in bed in. This time I happened to be facing my sliding mirror doors to my closet. When I opened my eyes I saw the reflection of myself but it was different somehow. It moved around kind of like the girl on grudge with fast jerking motions and I could also see in the background a body floating and spinning. This for some reason scared me quite a bit and turned nightmarish and I decided I would face my fear and walked up to the mirror. I put my face literally through the mirror and was met with 0 resistance. I couldn't see much so I decided to jump totally into the mirror. I found myself in a void. It was like I was floating in space and I could see distant stars and the mirrors that I came through. After a few seconds, I was thrown back into my mirrors and continued my dream.

Does anyone else have any experience with looking into mirrors in a lucid dream? If so, what happened? Do you have any ideas why people's experiences are so out of the ordinary (even for a dream)?

      .

I suspect that because the altered version of me wasn't connected my my movements, it would have its own mind and I may be able to talk to my reflection and it would talk back. I wish I would have tried it. Possibly a way to speak directly to your subconscious?

The strange thing about looking into a mirror when having a dream/LD/AP is that, for some reason, the mirror distorts the image of the individual staring into it. And, as I'm sure you learned, it isn't generally in the funhouse/water ripple way. It's more of the nightmarish, full-stop horror way.

When jumping into a mirror in a dream, it seems to often serve as a portal. That is, jump in, and it will spit you out wherever you may desire.

Yeah, mirrors are pretty odd in dreams.
