      Why did this lucid occur?

I was in a dream which took place in my very own house, then it just randomly loomed on me that I was in a dream and decided to plug my nose then I was ecstatic I was lucid with little to no effort. A little less than a mounth ago i gave up lucid dreaming I use to be obsessed with trying and only had short little lucid dreams very rarely. Now im wondering did this dream occur because at randomised times of the day I told myself you are dreaming plug your nose! Look at your hands!!! Thanks guys. The dream seemed to last about 5 minutes which is currently my longest lucid dream.

      Congrats on the LD!
In my own personal experiences, I've never actually become lucid from actually doing an RC; usually the lucidity comes and then the reality check, but sometimes I don't even need to do one. I always just become conscious right out of the blue; this is probably because, like you, I've randomly stopped during the day (which is a big part of my RCing/awareness regimen).

Also, if you take a step back for a moment and relax in terms of your lucid techniques, you'll probably find that it's easier to become lucid than if you make it a chore and think like you "have" to become lucid soon.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Thanks Puffin, glad your still active and posting because I remember you helped me a great deal with getting my first lucid dream. Quite interesting that it can happen right out of the blue, excited to see what dreams await me next

Everything has a chance of happening in a dream, so your bound to become lucid now and again, by practising and experiencing lucid dreams you increase this chance, so stay motivated and enjoy!

      Well done on your LD.

Actually trying too hard and being obsessed to have a lucid dream is also not that good.
So it normal to have it on a 'break'. I had experienced something like that a few times, that actually when I stopped writing my dream journal, stopped doing reality checks and stuff I achieved lucidy.
Congrats, now you have new found inspiration to stick to lucid dreaming Breaks are okay and normal part of every work.
