      When do nightmares occur?

I had another weird dream (I have wrote it in my DJ you can have a look if you want and comment ) after sleeping at 10:00 PM and waking at 4:00 AM...
I read on a site that nightmares usually occur at 4:00 AM and 6:00 AM but they weren't too specific about it. Does it end then or it actually starts? And what is the best hour to sleep? (and to actually avoid unpleasant dreams as much as possible)

A nightmare is just a bad dream, it happens at the same times a normal dream would (REM sleep). The only exception I know of are night terrors which occur in NREM stages usually 15-45 mins after you get in bed. And there is no specific time in the day they occur, but they would normally occur 4-6 hours after falling asleep. One tip I can give you is relax before you go to bed, turn off all TV's video games or whatever else you do and let your mind unwind. Try some meditation to clear your mind if you are a stressed person, works for me.

Fear induces lucid dreams better than any other emotion

I know! Probably the fear is the one that caused me having natural Lucid Dreams. But I can't control them.
I'm actually a very fearful person and I think the cause is because I'm afraid of hallucinations and dreams. I know they aren't real but they are so realistic and vivid. It's just...scary >_> (or at least for me)

I was really scared when I first started, it kept me from having one for a month. I have bad nightmares sometimes but since I'm so used to dreaming and lucid dreaming it doesn't affect me anymore I can shake off that bad dream like nothing now.

I suggest you start visualizing different scenarios when you're cornered or attacked, and that you destroy the hell out of whatever's doing it Confidence is key when it comes to Dream Control. If you doubt yourself before even having the dream, you will have a hard time once in it.

It has come to my attention that thing some guys wrote on the site.. That mechanism of dreams that if you're 100% sure something is gonna happen it WILL happen in the dream but if you doubt about it it would never be possible.
Like you go to the next room and you're sure that it is the kitchen because you know your house...if you had doubt it, in that room would be something else. But what about the RC where you count your fingers? You're 100% sure that there's gonna be 5 fingers. Why are there less or more fingers than usual? You're pretty sure in a dream you will not be actually able to plug your nose and yet breath...why does that works in a dream? You don't doubt it because is reality! I really don't understand this mechanism of the dreams

Details in dreams are always a bit weird. I've counted 5 fingers on more than one occasion, but mostly they're distorted and there are fewer or more than 5. You can't for example read a book properly, since the text will change. Look in a mirror and you'll see your face begin to morph. It's hard for the brain to maintain a high level of detail constant in dreams. It can be extremely detailed, but look at it long enough and you'll lose everything around it and the thing you're looking at will most likely have changed.

Something you're not sure is going to happen might also happen. But something you're 100% sure of, will happen. Why plugging your nose and breathing works in a dream is because your breathing is the same as your real body's. You pay attention to the breathing and you will continue to breathe because you don't plug your nose in reality.
