I hope everyone here stays motivated even when we are old people with dementia!
You know, I've noticed that too! I've been telling my co-workers about it in extensive detail for months, with enthusiasm, and although they seemed slightly intrigued at first, they just don't seem to get why it's something worth pursuing. One of them is still a bit skeptical of whether it's even real. And they are older than me by a range of 10-20 years. Fortunately one of them enjoys hearing about my experiences, so at least it's not an atmosphere where I have to keep my mouth shut. Another wonderful exception was when I discovered that one of these ladies has been a natural lucid dreamer since childhood (she's 44), but she never knew it had a name or was anything special, nor did she realize she could control much. She was amazed at this information, so I'm letting her borrow my copy of LaBerge's book.

My own mother, who usually thinks very much like me, says she doesn't want to screw with her head.
My friends are more receptive to the idea, but they usually say they're too busy. My best friend is especially interested, but she has a new baby and just changed jobs, so I understand. Oh well, hopefully I'll really be able to "recruit" at least one friend someday, and perhaps my next lover. You know what's funny though?? ALL the people I talk about it to - co-workers, family, friends - have unintentionally started recalling more dreams than they ever used to, since they hear me talk about it so much!

Agreed about staying motivated too - I wish I had known about this sooner, but I'm going to try to make the most of it. I'm only 28, so hopefully I have many years of lucid dreaming ahead of me!

That's cool that you're so open about it with your co-workers even if most of them don't get it. I guess you never know who you'll meet IRL if you are open about these things. I tend to keep it to myself because, as I said, people don't tend to get it and it's such a personal thing anyway. Also, if people have never heard of it, I'm afraid they'll lump LDing in with new age mumbo-jumbo. Worse yet is when it turns out they are into Freud and dream dictionaries Anyway, it's good that you do actually talk about it. Now that woman can read your book
