Watch reality check (as in wristwatch)

This it sort of like dream totems from Inception. You know where they had an actual object to do a reality check and what not.

How do watches fare with reality checking? First of all I kinda want a watch, and secondly I want it to be useful as a reality check, by looking at the time and either seeing it change as it shouldn't or be an completely random time.

What kind of watch should I get? Should I even get a watch? The only reason I wanted a watch besides.... having a watch is for the reality checks. If it won't work or help my reality checking then I probably won't buy.

TL;DR I want to know if watches actually help with reality checking and what kinds are the best suited?

imo diff rc's work for diff people, strangely i have read a digital watch the last two times i have seen one in dreamspace.
what kind of watch" i cant help. should you get one? while ultimately up to you, you did say 'first of all i kinda want one'. it may work, it may not. get a cheap shit watch and try it out. you wont really know for sure until you do. people can give you their exp's but they cant give you yours.

i use flying and so far it works for me. i should get a cape.
fingers through hands also failed for me.

do you carry a phone with digital time?

what have you been using so far? not working well for you?

I have a phone with a digital time, I have an alarm clock, and there is an analog clock in my classroom, and various digital and analog clocks around me. I just thought that maybe if I got a watch, would the new feeling of it work it's way into my dreams, until eventually I looked at it in a dream and saw how it was off?

I don't know. I have an analog watch. Does that work too? Or is it not as effective? Personally, for me, the nose plug works almost flawlessly.

Does anyone here use a watch regularly? Do you find it has appeared in your dreams before and helped you become lucid?

You might hold off on getting a watch. There's a brand new kind of device coming out for reality checking. And if you love inception, you will love this device! It will be an iPhone app for only 4$. The UI itself is hypnotic, and has induced a watch RC related LD *in a nap* after 1 day of use. I rarely LD nowadays, and have not had a LD in a nap in years!

This has digital clock RC, analog solar clock and text, all of which are subject to change in a dream. The phone detects your movement in bed when placed on the bed or on your wrist and plays the reminders, which your highly hypnotized brain recognizes

Digital clocks appeared in my dreams and are excellent RCs. Analog watches are harder to use, but they also change unpredictably and produced several lucid dreams for me, and I don't even own an analog watch!

The green buttons are sleep cycles. The arrows on the analog clock are sunrise and sunset, along with the sun's position. In this case if I go to sleep at 3:30Am, I'll have 2.5 sleep cycles before it's light outside. The green buttons next to sleep cycles allow for custom reminders to be played in the sleep cycle.

Well text in dreams is odd. Usually when a person looks at letters or numbers, looks away, and then looks back they changed! So with a watch you can look at it, look away, and then look back and see if the numbers changed. I wouldn't buy a watch just for lucid dreaming, but if you already want a watch, why not?

I find that other reality checks (nose pinch) tend to be more reliable, but just do what works best for you . Good luck!

Ok, I will. My birthdays coming up so I put it on the list. It's up to my parents whether or not to get one for me, so that makes it easier than choosing myself.
