      Dream Length - Regarding DJ

Ok, I have been working on attaining lucidity for a week now (haven't had one yet) and Ive been keeping a DJ and this is pretty much how my nights have been:

Ok, so I go to bed doing regular things to help have a DILD, and I fall asleep, then I usually wake up (naturally) around 2-4am and I usually dont remember my dream I jsut had but then I stay awake for 5-10mins and write down whatever i remember in my dream then go back to sleep wake up to go to school and write in my DJ again. But my problem is what I remember, is not much. This is my average DJ entry:

"I am walking down the road with my friend. He falls down a hole, so I look down the hole, there he yelling at me to come play with him. I jump down into the hole."

That was one of my DJ entry 3 nights ago. Pretty short. Is that normal?

When you are first starting off it is normal, don't worry. You just need to keep focusing on your recall (following this tutorial) and you will start to see your dream journal length getting longer.

Make sure you add ANY detail you remember. What kind of road? What friend? How deep was the hole? How wide was it? Did you jump down without hesitation or did you hesitate? Was it day? Was it night? Did you recognize the place you were in? Every little detail helps. You could also try mantras before bed like "I will remember all my dreams the next time I wake up."

      Good luck!

Mancon pretty much covered it. Details are very important in developing recall, so make sure you include as much as you can. If you try too hard to recall details, though, you may unintentionally start pulling random things from your subconscious thoughts and not the dream memory - your mind will attempt to fill those recall holes with anything it can think of, be it from real memories or not. So if you're having difficulty remembering something and find yourself remembering details that don't seem to "fit", don't push it, and don't stress over recalling that dream.

Your recall is good for a week, just keep at it!
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.
