      The sensations in shapeshifting?

I have read many fascinating stories about shafeshifting in LDs. (This is something I really want to achieve in the future.)

To anyone who can shapeshift, does being another creatue feel "real?" Can one feel a snout or tail on their body after transformation, and simultaneously look at their reflection in dream to see themselves changed?

The farthest I have gone is morphing into a cheetah, and it felt surprisingly natural to be running on four legs. That's about as far as the sensation went for me.

Personally, i haven't tried shapeshifting yet, but I imagine the 'feel' of the transformation would be what you would expect it to be, even subconsciously, seeing as dreaming and control, etc. is based on your expectations.

Any questions about lucid dreaming? Drop me a PM here!

Shapeshifting can feel extremely vivid (hair growing, teeth sharpening, body parts stretching/changing shape, etc.). It's not uncommon for people to have sensations in extra limbs or body parts like wings or tails. At the same time it is possible to shapeshift and feel nothing abnormal at all. Expectations and schemata play major rolls in determining how shapeshifting feels in a dream. If you really believe that shapeshifting will feel "real" (regardless of what that means to you), then it probably will.

"To anyone who can shapeshift, does being another creatue feel "real?""

The few that I did where I became something like a wolf fox type thing was the most shockingly real feeling I ever felt. It blows my mind away how far a little thought can carry you in dreams.

If you have a good imagination it's certainly possible for it to seem 100% realistic. I get a lot of physical sensations out of my dreams, even impossible stuff like the feeling of growing wings, etc. Tactile sensations can be some of the most impressive things about lucid dreams -- I'm constantly amazed by how much information our brains store and how realistically it can replicate things like touches, smells and tastes.

(Also, you just reminded me why I started getting into lucid dreaming at age 16 -- I wanted to dream that I was a werewolf! can't believe I forgot )

I've never shapeshifted into any creature as of yet. But I have shapeshifted into a book once!
For me, it just felt like I was shrinking into this shape, losing my limbs, etc. But what I felt wasn't physical, I was only aware of my dream body at the time (if that makes sense)..

      Things I've done while Lucid:

      - Flying - Dream Rewind and Fast Forward
      - Invisibility - Shapeshifting - Grown Wings
      - Summoning [mastered (?)] - Zip lining
      - Fireball
